Diego Armando's p.o.v

So this is it, huh?

In this cold cell. A murderer.

But this is not what hurts the most.

I disappointed Y/N.
And now... she'll have to live with me being exterminated.
Or... maybe not. I hope she stopped caring about me. It'll be easier for her.

I was in complete darkness.
The visor Y/N made for me was confiscated, because a prisoner shouldn't have any belongings.
At least they didn't take my ring.

Although... does it really matter?
it doesn't have any purpose anymore. Or rather, it won't ever have a purpose.

I drank the coffee the guards made me. It's not as good as Y/N or I make, but it's better than nothing.

I can only guess that my cell is small.
I can feel the coldness of the stone walls, so they must be pretty close.
I could hear the echoes of the steps of my guard going back and forth.
The coffee was already cold.

This darkness is too familiar.
I remember how I woke up to the silence, with muffled voices from the outside and the smell of the doctor's coffee.
I remember how they started checking me and asking me questions and calling more and more people.
And then, Y/N's familiar voice.
This soft voice in the crowd of other voices.
My heart skipped a beat right then and there, but I ignored it since I was also waiting for Mia's voice to come.
But it never came.

...
I'm a scared of dying.
I've already experienced it.
...
I've already lost everything.
Everyone dear to me.
Because I was a fool.

I felt something going down my cheeks.
My... tears.
___

I don't know how much time passed.
But then I heard...

"Mr. Armando. Come with me."
The guard told me.

As I stood up, I heard the bars open.
He gripped my shoulder, leading me out of my cell and down... what seems to be a corridor. We took two turns while walking.

Is it already the time for my death?
Two days have already passed?
I lost track of time a long time ago.

"There's a chair right behind you."
He informed me and let go of me.
I reached my hand behind me, trying to find the seat.
I found it after a few seconds and I set down.
The guard took a few steps back.

Wait, so I'm not going to die?

"This way, miss."

Hmm?
Who would want to see me?
Could that be...?

"Hello, Mr. Armando!"
I heard her voice from... beyond a glass. So I'm in the visitors room.

"Hello, Miss Fey. What a nice surprise."
I tried to smile.
Of course it's not HER...
What did I expect...

"I'm also here, thank you very much."
He sounded playfully hurt.

"Tri--- err, Wright.
Didn't expect you to be here."

"Woah, Nick! He's actually trying to address you correctly!"
Maya said in her excited voice.

I heard a door creaking from behind me, with a few footsteps.
Probably the guard.

"Your eyes are so cool! Do all blind people have those cool icey eyes?? I want eyes like this, too!"

"M-Maya!!"

I couldn't help but chuckle.
"You really don't.
What worth do cool eyes have if they can't see?"

"Hmm... I guess you are right...
Bummers..."
Maya sounded a little disappointed.

...

"So, uh, how's your wound?
It looks better."
Wright tried to start a real conversation.

"Um, thanks.
It still hurts a little, but I won't have to deal with that for long, I suppose."
I sighed.

"I doubt that, Mr. Armando."
Maya giggled.

Before I managed to ask why, I felt a familiar hand on my right cheek.
"H-Huh...?"

"Diego..."
She whispered with slight sadness, and then I felt her soft lips on mine.

"Ha! Told ya'! Leaving Pearls at home was the right idea."

"Hmpf. You won."

"Y-Y/N..."
I whispered, a little dazed after we pulled away.

"Oh my handsome, handsome Diego. Look at all this trouble you got yourself into..."

"Can't really look, can I?"
I chuckled.

She pulled me into a hug.
"I-I love you so much!
I can't bare the thought of you dying!"

"R-Really...?"

"Yes, you dork! I forgive you..."

"That's enough, Miss L/N.
You can continue speaking with him through the glass."

"O-Oh... ok, sir..."
Y/N was sad to get out of my grip.
The warmth disappeared as she left.

I listened to the muffled footsteps stopping in front of me, and the creaking of a chair.

"...The point is, we are going to get you out of here!"
Wright exclaimed.

"And you are going to reunite with Y/N and she won't be sad anymore!"
Maya added, determined.

"Heh... that's cute.
It's practically impossible.
I'm already proven guilty beyond doubt.
And I'm surprised by hearing this from you, Wright. After I was such a jerk to you.
And you, Maya. You already know that my motives behind saving you weren't very pure.
And Y/N... there is a lot to say, right?

I don't understand why you are so determined to help me."
I turned my head aside.
It didn't change anything, the darkness was still the same.

"D-Don't say that..."

"Mr. Armando, we..."

"Mr. Armando. We understand your hesitation. We have reasons to hesitate, too.
But what we see right now is someone who's going to be exterminated just because he was desperate to fill a whole in his heart, that frankly, can't be filled."
Wright said.

"Hmpf...
I was a defence lawyer once.
I know that you are bluffing.
It'll be better for everyone if this soul burns in hell."

"Diego, don't you understand...?
You just fell into HER trap.
Six years ago, and now all over again. She WANTS you to lose hope and just sit there and die!
But I can't let this happen!
Please, have some faith..."
Y/N begged.

"...that's one voice I can never refuse...
A-Alright. Thank you. I believe in you.
And, uh... sorry."
