Angelo reluctantly sets me down, but keeps me close to him, barricading me with his body.

Antonio smiles as he begins to speak  "Now, we don't need to argue son, I-"

"You lost the privilege of calling me son years ago." Angelo chides with a scoff.

"And for the past, I am deeply sorry. If I could do things differently I would." Antonio's words, although apologetic, don't seem very genuine.

"I severely doubt that." Angelo says. "I don't want to trouble myself with your impromptu family reunion, so I'll be leaving now."

Angelo takes my hand and we move to walk past Antonio. But, in one swift motion, I feel myself lurch backwards.

I let out a yelp as Easton's arms warp around me, holding me back. I wriggle and writhe, but it's of no use.

Angelo stares with a dark anger at his father. "Let her go." He says calmly, but his tone is far from diplomatic, an obvious 'or else' lingering on his tongue.

Antonio laughs, ignoring Angelo's unspoken threat. "Humor me, Angelo. Stay a night or two, at least until you brother gets here. Then we can all discuss business." Antonio places a reassuring hand on his sons shoulder.

But Angelo is quick to retaliate, twisting the hand away.

And yet somehow, Antonio is even faster. His welcoming facade slips for a moment and annoyance crosses his eyes as he grips Angelo, digging his fingers into the back of his neck and leaning in.

He whispers something then. Something I can't hear or even make out.

Whatever it is, it's changed the situation.
