PROLOGUE

This summer was one heck of a ride. So many things happened between Oliver and me that brought us closer. Some things drifted us so far apart, we won't be able to see each other. My parents got an eyeful seeing me come home high. If things weren't bad enough, we've added a couple of deeds to our summer that is bad enough to be on Santa's naughty list.

Me, including others, learned that our lives shouldn't be controlled by bad influences. Leaning on someone else won't always be a stable crutch. It takes more than one bad person to take what's dear to you.

Just as trouble leaves, another comes. My family life, the anxiety of a long-distance relationship, body image issues, left cracks where there shouldn't be. Somewhere between all of this, the worst news of all came. Life wreaked havoc on a birthday party that should have ended happily. Festive cheering, presents, cake. Did I forget to mention two teenagers who were crying outside? Yeah, I was one of them.
