It's always the same.

Slime had lived a long time. It had seen empires rise and fall. Sometimes it caused them to fall and sometimes it didn't. They had learned their lesson many years ago; at least they thought they did. It was difficult really, to accept that everyone around you would pass and you would be left all alone, over and over and over again. It happened to them multiple times.

He could hear the banishing of another, the words his own. He heard the sizzle of TNT that he himself had lit.

He couldn't help himself when he got discovered. He thought he had learned, and that was why he had watched. Watched a server begin to grow before becoming chaos, watched an old friend... It was impossible that he was there, right?... take control before eventually being the one to end his own life. Even watched as the first person to ever arrive was put into prison.

Naturally, they made a mistake. They let Quackity find them. It got attached again... One day he'd become dust and Charlie would be alone again... No, this time it would be different. Quackity wouldn't die, he couldn't. Charlie wouldn't allow it...

That wasn't right...

Charlie gripped a piece of paper in his hand. It was a letter:

Dear Slime,

Unfortunately, Quackity has passed due to unknown causes. A funeral is planned for the 16th. I'm sorry for your loss.

-Sam

Tears were streaming down his face, but Charlie smiled. "No... Quackity is fine. Quackity of Las Nevadas can't go. He can't..." Its lip quivered as it wiped the tears from its eyes. Why would he cry? Quackity was fine! He must've been! The letter was just... A prank! Yeah, a prank! And Quackity would show up and they'd laugh together about it... That wasn't true and deep down they knew that, but they couldn't handle losing another one... "He'll show up right... now! Um... wait, right... now!"

It was around three in the morning when Charlie stopped repeating that phrase. Quackity really wasn't coming back, was he? Charlie was all alone again...

"Listen to my advice, Char, and listen good. You'll live forever and ever. They won't. You might as well give up now before their deaths hurt you." It scoffed. "They're my friends Schlatt, and I refuse to let them go!" Schlatt's face softened in... pity before he snarled. "Fine. Don't come crying to me when they turn to dust."

Schlatt was dead.

Grizzly was dead.

...

Quackity was... dead?
