Chase the Light

I'm not crazy.

Insane.

I'm not damaged.

Broken.

My people love me.

Lies.

The voices refute each thought

Floating around your mind,

Piercing through the invisible shield.

You tell yourself you have a purpose,

"useless" they whisper back.

The dark clouds above you begin to get darker. Why is the light leaving me?

The ghostly guards shadowing you, holding you back.

Chains tight around your neck; where is the breath going from my lungs?

Your senses leave, your eyes closed...Your heart beats on the ground beside you.

It hurts so much, yet you can't feel a thing.

Don't go, not yet.

With your eyes open you're blinded by a bright light.

I don't want to be here anymore.

Grab my hand.

Shadows gone, clouds white, chains off, heart beating safely inside...

You inhale the breath of life.

Your lungs nicely filled like a bottle of wine.

I'm always here,

you just have to look for me.

and never give up.

Every day you wake up,

looking into a mirror,

reminding yourself:

Never be afraid to chase the light, no matter how dark it gets.
