When I Lost You

The sound of silence was abrupt, almost unnoticeable at first.

The room felt empty even though I wasn't alone.

Months later yet it still fails to feel real.

No matter how many drinks I consume nor how much smoke I inhale, there's still a certain emptiness inside.

Looking in the mirror, I can't help but see you daily.

I lay in bed at night, thinking about our box full of memories, the one we'll never be able to add to.

How much I miss you now is nothing compared to before.

As I sit here writing to you, my heart breaks again and tears begin to fall.

Though  I know I won't cry forever, it's still so hard to think about that day...

The day when I lost you.
