I finished The Budding Metalinguist last year, but put it on hold until I'd finished publishing The Unskillful Thaumaturge. Like most of my work, it's a healthy mix of sci-fi, fantasy, and mystery, with a protagonist intent on discovering the secrets of her past. But now, she has the help of a mysterious university professor who might just have motives of his own...
Over the next few months, you can follow in the footsteps of Lillian Bankhurst as she draws ever closer to solving the mysteries tangled around her. But the detectives at the Department for the Investigation of Anomalous Occurrences have the same goal, and as they progress in their own investigation, the secrets only seem to go deeper and deeper, until one bad decision and its world-shaking consequences set Assistant Director Galena Tarmont on a new path.
