You were writhing in pain on the forest floor when Carlisle heard the screams and smelled the blood and found you. The bite mark on your neck was fresh, blood still pouring from the open wound as you tried to grit your teeth to keep from letting out any more anguished noises.
He appeared over you, and if you hadn't been distracted by the burning sensation spreading from the wound on your neck through your whole body, you would have been startled.
But he wasn't there to do you any more harm. His eyes were kind, sympathetic, and his touch was gentle but firm as he inspected your neck.
