Emery woke up to his stomach grumbling, elicited by the scent of butter wafting through the gaps of his bedroom door.

Climbing out of bed, he forged his way across the room, the warm July wind and the sound of the ocean waves beating against the shore greeting him as he opened the door to the balcony. Emery was lucky enough to get the room with the ocean view despite Ian's constant nagging of Blake about it repeatedly yesterday.

"Please, please, please!" It was the second night, and despite Blake's insistence that the rooms are already assigned as it is, Ian just couldn't let it go. Apparently, he hated that their room was next to someone who couldn't stop playing Bob Marley songs at 2 am.

"No," Blake pressed, looking at both his best friend and his best friend's nagging boyfriend. "You're just gonna have sex on my balcony and I don't want any of my neighbors thinking I run some sort of summer orgy den in here."

He added, crossing his arms with a raised brow. "And if you hate my acquired taste in music so much maybe staying would be a bad idea."

Ian rolled his eyes at Blake while Bryce tried his best to console his boyfriend with a bite of his Oreos, to no avail.

Emery was just happy he gets to keep his room.

Once he was able to gather the energy to meet his friends downstairs, Emery decided to fix himself up in the bathroom first, knocking twice before everything else this time. He arrived in the kitchen expecting everyone's company, but when he got there, none but one person was waiting, an apron wrapped around his body as his hands worked together in front of the stove.

"Hey," the redhead called, looking around. "Where's everyone?"

Cameron peeked over his shoulder, his lips curled in a tight-lipped smile as he turned to face his friend, freshly out of bed wearing his dad's old Cattanooga Cats shirt. The blond tried to stifle a laugh at his tousled bright hair that looked like glowing torch under the sunlight, but still, Emery managed to notice the little twitch his mouth did.

No, it did not make his heart skip the proverbial clumsy beat.

"Good morning to you too," Cameron chirped, smiling at the blinking, slightly confused boy. His voice served as a perfect compensation for the sleep that eluded Emery last night, which was cruel. "Do you like pancakes?"

Emery blinked once again, touched by the offer. He's even more attractive in the morning.

"That depends," the redhead decided to retort, rubbing his eyes as he took a seat by the kitchen island, blinking his doziness away. "Do you make good pancakes?"

"You tell me," Cameron shrugged as he walked over towards Emery with a plateful of said pancakes in hand before smirking at his friend. "Fair warning though, you may not want to eat anything else ever once you get a good bite of my pancakes."
