Zayn works in an old age home where he meets a mysterious guy who doesn't talk much. And all he wants is to have a friendship with him but ends up falling in love.

With how the snow was falling, Zayn was sure he'd be late for work. Note to oneself, never trust December's snowfall in New York. Though he loved the snowfall, he didn't like it a bit when it hinders his work. He could imagine how Mrs O'Neil would be complaining about it being too much cold and how they should shift the old age home to a new place now.
His ears were chilling and his hands were freezing under the gloves. His beat up car was bumping on the slobs of snow spread on the road. Though the heater was on, he could still feel a rush of chilled air. He found it hard to believe that most of the residents at the home liked this weather rather than the hot summers well except Mrs O'Neil.
He finally reached the gates of New Leaf Old Age Home. The building was quite large if compared to the others. The cream walls often gave away a sad environment, but Zayn knew once the door opens, no one goes out of here without a smile etched on their faces.
The moment he entered, Mr Shaw bombarded him with questions, "How was the date? Did you tell him my story I told you when in 1984-"
"Mr Shaw, the date was horrible to be honest. He seemed least interested about my work and you guys, just talking about how great I look. And before you ask again, I didn't tell him how you tackled a bear alone in a jungle and a second date is never gonna happen"
He moved further inside and went behind the front desk, keeping his satchel on it and removing the coat and gloves. He blew into his hands which were freezing. He opened the activities book and started organising today's schedule.
One must think why a business school graduate is working full time in an old age home at the age of 27. He receives a lot of job offers from his friends, his father himself owns a company and Zayn was a former employee there but he quit four years ago.
He decided to work at an old age home because he had himself seen how his granddad was treated at their home. Zayn's father would be a powerful man and maybe a good one in the outside world, but he knows how cruel he actually is.
Yaser didn't allow his father to come meet any guests who came to their house, he was confined to his room and not allowed to roam around the house, he wasn't allowed to play with his grandkids, but Zayn being Zayn, always managed to meet and play with him. He got so sick in the end but Yaser said no to his treatment saying it was waste of money.
The day his granddad died, Zayn left his home. He decided to leave the company and started working at the home, his friend Niall was a part time nurse here. He worked behind the reception desk and managed all the schedule. He liked the company of the older folk. He didn't feel like a stranger or out of place. He found it hard to believe that how can a child just leave their old parents in an unknown place, they have the money to pay for their rent, but don't have any time to take care of them.
He finally closed the book and went to see the residents who were hanging out in the parlour. They had asked him to call them by their first name, but Zayn being the modest one denied.
"Hey Zayn, good morning!! How are you sunshine?" Mrs O'Neil asked setting away her newspaper. Zayn couldn't tell how many sweaters she had worn under her big jacket. He knows what will be the next question.
