Chapter 13
I was practically skipping down the school hallways. Students were giving me odd looks. That when I realized that I had a reputation around here now. I was the badass. I had to act like a badass, not a weird badass. I glared at everyone who looked at me. Or at least tried to. It probably came out as a grimace.
But, it worked. The bystanders stopped looking, and carried on with their lives. I smiled when I remembered why I was happy in the first place. My best friend, Mickey, was back. And, I knew for a fact that he was gonna come to school today. His mom's party was tomorrow and I couldn't wait.
I smiled when I spotted my gang hanging around my locker. They were all huddled in a circle. The smile on my face grew wider when I noticed Mickey in the circle. I knew he was going to be here today!
Lola was the first to spot me. She gave me a knowing grin, and then looked away. I frowned, what was up with that? When I reached the group I greeted everyone. Clarissa and my cousin, Danny, seemed to look awfully cosy. But, that was for another time.
"Hey short stuff." Mickey said smirking at me after he called me that horrible nickname. I glared at him, causing his smirk to grow. I was not short! He was just abnormally tall. And at 6'2 he didn't let you forget it either. I hit his arm, making him laugh.
"You hit like a girl, Rush." I hit him again, except a little harder. He winced, causing me to smirk,
"That was for not telling me you were in town. I had to find out myself yesterday, at that ice cream place." I said, frowning at the thought. Yes, it was the day after I got banned from McDonalds. With Jason Anderson. My mind immediately wandered to Jason-Don't go there Andy. Don't think about him! It's bad enough that too many people think you like him.
"Ice cream place? You went to get ice cream with Jason Anderson?" Lola said, interrupting the conversation that I was having with myself. When I looked up I noticed that she had that same knowing grin on her face. I groaned internally. See what I mean. Too many people think that I like Jason Anderson. I closed my eyes.
That's when everything went downhill.
"Wait, you skipped school to go somewhere with Jason?" That was from Danny.
"Wait, they're not dating are they?" That was from Clarissa.
"No, they're just acquaintances." I could hear the smirk in Mickey's voice.
"Please, acquaintance my ass. Trust me, Mickey. Once you see the tension-the sexual tension between those two, you'll realize there's no way those two could be acquaintances. They couldn't even be friends." That was from Lola.
I opened my eyes, and noticed that they were all looking at me expectantly. What was I suppose to do now? Explain to them that I had to leave after getting a little high, because I had the munchies. No thanks.
"I didn't feel good yesterday, so I ended up skipping the rest of the day. Jason Anderson just happened to tag alone." I said crossing my arms. Thats right Andy, lie to your friends. They all looked at each other for a second. Danny looked like he was gonna say something, but I interrupted. I didn't feel like being scowled,
"Anyway, enough about me. How was Cali?" I asked Mickey, trying hopelessly to change the subject. Mickey looked like he was contemplating taking the bait or not. But in the end he did.
"It was so awesome. The sun as bright. Everyday was sunny. And, I even caught a few waves while I was there. And, there were even a few hotties." He said, smirking at Danny who gave him a knowing look. I rolled my eyes. Guys. Can't live with them, can't live without-actually...
