Chapter 27: Just My Luck...

I woke up a few minutes later to being picked out of the car by Colton. "W-whermnn aruuu innn goimmg?" I tried to ask where we were going but failed terribly. "Don't speak just rest the others are on there way now" Colton said walking vastly to which I looked up as my vision started to jump around. "I camttt seee" I said lifting my hands to reach something.

"Maeve?" I heard Colton say as Olivia was shaking me lightly. "I-I cansst s-see" I repeated before my head started excruciating itself with pain as i jolted and screamed from the pain, definitely causing a scene.

"Maeve!? Maeve!?" I heard loud distant voices as I turned my head to see Jeremiah, Parker, Noah etc running towards me but it blurred making it hard to find Jeremiah's actual figure.

"J-Jeremiah?" I asked reaching out to mid air as I couldn't see him. "Maeve" I heard Jeremiah say close by which jolted me. "I cansst se..." I said but faded out on the last bit as I passed out when the doctors laid me on the trolley.

I woke up to chatter outside my room which I hadn't stayed in before but it looked sort of like a hospital room just more fancy. I turned to when the murmurs of voices where coming from and saw a window near the door and on the other side stood Jeremiah, Parker, Hailey, Grayson and him holding Kenzie while talking to the doctor.

I have no idea what time it is or even if it's the next day, but just as my thoughts continued as I stared laying down at everyone talking, Hailey's head turned to face me as her eyes widened.

Two seconds later she was running into the room and into my arms. "Arh" I groaned in a sleepy voice as she gave me a tight embrace. "Finally, your awake we were are really worried about you" Hailey replied as she loosened the grip between us, steeping away as I saw Jeremiah, Parker, Grayson and Kenzie enter the room.

I made a eye contact with Jeremiah to only see hurt and pain in his eyes, I was confused but before I could do anything his broke eye contact as I saw Parker come and hug me tightly.

"Careful" I heard Jeremiah say in a broke and cold voice, "It's okay" I say quietly hugging Parker back. "I missed you" "You guys are too dramatic it's only been like a day" I chuckled. Everyone looked towards the floor as Grayson interrupted "Maeve you've been unconscious for two months" he said as my eyes grew and turned to see a more grown up and changed Kenzie, again.

My eyes watered slowly as I turned to the clock by Hailey with the date on it, it had been two months and 5 days approximately. I turned to Jeremiah again to see a different man than I had seen before, dark circles under his eyes, unshaven and messily dressed.

His eyes didn't catch mine again since they had entered the room and he made no attempt to speak to me which hurt me. "Why was I unconscious for so long?" I asked turning to Hailey as one tear escaped my eye slowly. "The night of the incident when Jeremiah attacked the man, the man grabbed you making you fall back and you hit your heard harshly on the floor which proceeded to bleed" Hailey said stopping as I saw her eyes water a little.

"We took you to hospital but you weren't able to make a clear sentence and you couldn't see straight and then as they put you on the trolley you fell unconscious and the doctor said due to the trama and head injury, you would be unconscious for a while but he didn't expect this long" Parker said finishing off Hailey's words as the memory flooded back in.

"Anyway to lighten the mood we brought you a piece of birthday cake" Grayson said handing me some cake in a tub which I looked at him confused for. "Kenzie turned one last month" Grayson said as I looked down to Kenzie who was hiding behind Grayson's leg, looking unsure of she knew me or not as Grayson held her up as she couldn't balance standing up by herself.

I laughed a little trying not to feel sad for missing her birthday. "I guess your birthday present from me will have to be late then" I said smiling lightly as her as she smiled back turning to her dad for reassurance.

"Okay I think Maeve should get some rest now" Jeremiah said coldly as everyone slowly left, "I've been resting for two months" I said as Jeremiah stayed far across the room.

"Sit down" I said patting the bed. "I don't think so" he said still staying stood in his place, "What now! What have I done wrong!?" I shouted. "What? Why are you shouting at me!?" Jeremiah shouted back obviously angry.

"Well your whole 'i don't want to speak to Maeve so I'm going to pretend she's not there' act isn't really working" I replied. "Unbelievable!" Jeremiah before walking vastly out of the room to where I know for a fact Hailey, Grayson, Parker and Kenzie heard.

Tears pricked the corner of my eyes as I attempted to blink them away, I heard the door open again the reveal Hailey holding Kenzie's hands as she slowly walked forwards.

I quickly got out of the bed walking over to Kenzie, "Hello" I said waving to her. "Hewo" Kenzie's small and quiet voice replied.

I looked at her in shock that she could speak. "She's only speaking a few words but she's improving fast" Hailey said as we sat back on the bed I was laying in.

We spoke for a while before the conversation led into what it's been like while I was gone.

"Jeremiah seems different" I said to Hailey, "He is, ever since you went into hospital he's shut himself out and surrounded himself with alcohol because he blames himself for what happened. I mean today's the first day I've seen him in 2 weeks except in the mornings, everyone's tried to see him but the only time he leaves his office is either to get food or more alcohol but that's only when everyone's asleep and then he would drunkly make his way to his room, with a struggle, I can hear him almost every night as he bumps into the walls and then the second he gets into his room he either sleeps on the floor or couch I don't know why, but every morning when I go to ask him if he wants breakfast he's usually fallen asleep on the floor and so Colton and Lucas usually end up getting him up and putting him in bed." She replied which shocked me.

"I didn't realise he'd changed that much" I said feeling guilt surface as, if I would have stayed with the group at the nightclub none of this would have happened.

"He missed Kenzie's birthday but left her a present but to be honest I don't think she minded as she doesn't really remember him when he was with you just before so she just sees him as the angry and scary man that owns the house" Hailey said as I chuckled which turned into a tear falling down my cheek.

As I looked up I saw Kenzie jump into my arms as I assume she saw the tear, "aww" I said hugging her back.
