"You have to understand."

DAWN EVANS POV:

"My dads making us move away."
He spoke lowly, finally looking at me.

It took me a second to process what he said, so there was this awkward space of silence where I was thinking and he was staring at me on the verge of tears.

"What- why? Why is Lucius making you move away?"
I had so many questions.

"He said he 'wanted a fresh start.'''
He said air quoting from the letter.

"I mean- are you sure? Are you going?"
I almost didn't believe him.

"Yes i'm sure. I have to! I have no other options-
He cut himself off as if he came up with the best idea he's ever thought of.

"What? What is it?"
I was so eager to get the full story.

"Run away with me, Dawn."
He looked at me with pleading eyes.

"Pardon?"

"Come on, my family has multiple manors and we can even get a hotel. I'll supply with everything, you don't wont have to worry."
He was providing examples so I would agree.

I was silent for a second, actually considering.

"Dawn, I love you. And i'm willing to do anything for you. Please."
He pleaded, gripping my hands.

"Draco, my family's here. My friends are here- our friends are here. I mean- Arion? Ember? My bloody parents? I cant just leave them."
I scoffed.

"They can visit. My mum and dad can visit. I cant leave you."
He was pleading and pleading.

I went silent again.

"Dawn come on, please. We both turn 18 over the summer. We'd be adults. Once we turn 18 we can come back. We'd be out of school, we'd have jobs, we'd probably have a house."
He kept providing examples that make it seem like it'd be amazing.

"I cant leave my life here, not yet."
I said calmly. I felt my voice cracking. I wasn't ready to leave my family or friends but I also wasn't ready to leave Draco.

"When are you supposed to leave?"

"We already have things packed. I leave tonight. I have a few hours before I leave."
His voice was breaking as well.

"You have to understand."
I whispered.

He swallowed the lump in his throat and stayed silent.

"I love you, I swear I do. I love you so fucking much. But I cant leave, Draco. But I don't want to leave you either-
I felt my heart physically shatter inside of my chest.

"I don't know what I expected."
He scoffed slightly laughing.

"I have to go pack up the shit in my dorm."
He sniffled while sitting up.

"Don't go yet, please. I- let me think about something. I know I can figure somethingout-
I was rambling.

"Dawn, I cant stay. I have two options and one of them was just turned down."
He put on a weak smile.

"I would run away with you if I didn't have a life here. Please understand that-
I started. I needed him to understand.
