" Hey Kaiya? " The small, dark-brown haired girl said, tugging on her adoptive mother's beautiful yellow kimono. Her almost black eyes were slightly filled with small tears.
" Yes, Inigo? "
" I uhm.. I was outside playing with Miki-Chan, but I accidentally fell and scraped my knee.. I think it's bleeding. "
" Oh no, is that so? Here, let me see "
The adoptive mother pulled up a little on the small girl's kimono, examining her knee closely.
" It's alright, just a scratch. It will heal soon enough " She reassured and comforted the girl while caressing her cheek.
" Ne, I got a question "
The woman named Kaiya tilted her head to the left. " Hm? What is it, sweetie? "
" Why do we bleed for so long? Why doesn't it heal faster?.. it hurts " She asked, looking down at her bleeding scratch on her knee. Sure enough, the pain made her tear up again.
Kaiya's smile faded a little but she kept on a comforting face expression.
" Because we are human, Inigo. Some scars take long to heal, some heal in a short time and some may never heal at all, but that's fine. It's up to us wether we accept the pain or not "
Inigo stared at her mother-figure for a few seconds as she wiped her tears, now smiling.
" Oh, okay! I think I understand! " She hugged Kaiya tightly, " Thank you! "

The atmosphere at the dinner was far more awkward than ever. The silence, and the silence alone, dominated everything. Not even the sound of a cricket could be heard. Nothing.
"Iroha? " Hotaru asked, tilting his head with a worried and curious expression, " Is something wrong? You've been so quiet. "
I didn't answer as still stared at the table menacingly in silence. I could feel my heart beat rapidly inside my chest as sweat drops trailed down the side of my face.
