"You good?"Aubrey looked over at me

I nodded as I sipped on the sparkling water in my hand.

He and I sat in the backseat of the truck that Bruce was driving. We were just a few minutes from my grandmother's house.

"I'm fine. Just nervous."I slightly frowned.

"Why?"He furrowed his brows

"Grandmommy is very..traditional.I'm worried about what she'll think about me being pregnant before the wedding."I sighed playing with my ring

"I think she'll be happy for you. I think everyone will be happy for you."He told me

"Yeah?"I looked up at him

"Of course."He nodded

"It's been so long since I've seen most of my family. When I moved to the states I never looked back and now I'm so suddenly coming back. I just- I hope they understand."I spoke as the car pulled up in front of the house

"You let me know if anything's wrong. If you wanna go home. Okay?"He told me

I nodded."Okay."

Bruce came over and opened the door for me. He grabbed my hand and helped me out of the car.

Aubrey walked over and wrapped his arm around my waist.

"Should be a few hours."Aub told Bruce

"No problem boss."He responded

Aubrey and I walked up to the door in silence. There were a lot of cars lined up already. Aubrey pressed the doorbell and shortly after, the door opened.

There stood my Aunt Niecy. She smiled wide.

"Jazzy! I didn't know you were coming!!"She pulled me into a tight hug

"So good to see you, Auntie. This is my fiance Aubrey."I said

"Nice to meet you, honey. You two come on in."She let us inside

"Nice to meet you too."Aubrey smiled

"So.."She looked at my belly

"I'm hoping I can talk to everyone about this later."I let her know

"Well alright.Let's get you some food."She said

I grabbed Aubrey's hand and we followed her to the kitchen.

There, my grandma stood over a buffet.

"Mama look who's here!"Aunt Niecy said

Grandma looked up and saw Aubrey and I.

"My baby!"She smiled and hugged me tightly

"Hey grandma.How are you?"I asked her

"Im doing alright."She said pulling away

She looked down at my belly and rested her hand on it.

"Mm."She hummed

I chuckled at her response.

"You must be Aubrey."She turned her attention to him

"Yes ma'am.It's nice to finally meet you."He hugged her

"It's nice to meet you too honey.You two get some food.I'll come find you and we can talk."She said

"Okay."I nodded

He and I grabbed the paper plates from the counter and started to dig in.

"Can you hand me another plate?"I asked him as my first one was already full
