Coward

I've always been afraid,
Silly little things,
Large, unbelievable things,
Things that simply exist in my mind.

I've been afraid to open up,
Always scared it would send them away,
Make them walk another path,
Leave me behind.

I've been afraid to dream,
To try,
To have it taken from me,
For me to fail.

I've been scared to think,
The paths it'll take me,
The questions and answers I'd find,
The hopes and fears.

I've been afraid to do,
Take the wrong action,
Say the wrong thing,
Just make a mistake.

I've always been afraid,
Always the small and large,
Always the inevitable and imaginary,
Always a coward.
