Chapter 20: Fighting For Her

[Y/N POV]

Y/N: You seem a bit on edge today Chariot. Is everything ok?

Chariot: U-uhhh yeah everything is fine! There's no need for you to be worried about it!

The two of us were having one of our 'bonding' sessions as we tried getting to know more about each other and become closer as family.

But today, she seemed really restless.

Y/N: I-if I'm keeping you, then I honestly don't mind you going and sorting whatever it is! I can wait here! Akko will be back soon.

She looked at me and sighed before reaching over the table and taking my hands.

Chariot: Please, don't get mad, don't raise your voice, just listen.

I nod my head.

Chariot: Th-the school are concerned about how Akko is getting on. Her grades aren't the best, I'll be honest.

Y/N: So? She just needs a bit of help then right? That isn't hard!

Chariot: N-no it's not! But the pressure is really on, because if she doesn't pass her next exam, th-they said they will expel her.

Y/N: THEY SAID WHAT?!

I couldn't believe I had just heard her say that!

Chariot: Y/N please calm down! Sit please!

She was looking at me and desperately trying to get me to sit back down in my seat. It took me a few moments to cool off, but I got there eventually.

Y/N: Sorry...I-I just couldn't believe what you just said! Th-they're going to expel her?!

Chariot: Y-yes. A-And I know how much the two of you love each other and how much this all means to her! I-if she gets expelled, i-it would be disastrous but just for her, but also for you and your mental health. She makes you so happy and I-I can't let them take that away from you!

I don't really know what I would be without Akko to be honest. She was such a big part of me now and her presence just makes me feel so much happier!

I could forget about what had happened to me in the past and concentrate on someone I love with all of my heart!

Y/N: S-so what are we going to do then?

Chariot: What I'll do. I can't drag you into this. You're in no position to-.

Y/N: Stop.

She stops in her tracks and looks at me, ready to listen to what I had to say.

Y/N: I might still be struggling a little, but recently I have been feeling so much better! Everything just seems to be going right! In fact, this is really the only thing that has been a threat to my happiness in a long time now!

Chariot: I-I understand. So you're going to help me?

Y/N: Yep! I don't really know how I will, but you just tell me how I can help and I'll do it! For Akko, I'd do anything!

A big smile spreads across Chariot's face as she held my hands tighter.

Chariot: The two of you are so cute together! Watching the two of you and seeing the smile on your face, makes me want to smile as well!

Y/N: She has that affect!

Chariot: Indeed she does! I'll have to thank her for what a good job she is doing making you happy and helping you out of your darkest days!

Y/N: I wouldn't be here without her! Finally it's my chance to repay her for doing that by making sure that she can still live her dream and become a witch!
