The Emperors ball (Part 1)

Btw this is set in a timeline where they host a ball- that's it. It isn't apart of the canon story, or a fan made section- its just like an AU- sorta-

This was a mistake.

I shouldn't have come here.

The emperors coven had hosted a 'ball' they called it. (Although it was more like one of those masquerade balls you read about in those enemies to lovers novels, seeing as it was (per requested) 'wear an attire + matching mask' sorta thing)

Almost everyone was invited, including me.

Luz and Eda had been invited as well—but they weren't currently at the actual ball room, seeing as the only reason they had come was to steal some artifact that Eda had had her eyes on for a while. And of course—Luz being Luz—couldn't say no to the person that had taken us in and fed us and kept us warm.

And me—being the overprotective sister I was—couldn't say no to Luz when she asked me to come with her.

I was almost 100% sure it was a trap, but that's precisely why I was standing where I was standing. Next to the back door, sipping my drink and watching it to see if anyone would leave or enter through it.

It had been quite a while since they had left, and honestly, I was getting quite bored. A few guys and girls had come up to ask If I wanted to dance—I had to reject all of them seeing as I had 'one mission here' and that mission was to stay put for the time being.

But too long had passed, and neither Luz nor Eda had come back. I knew where they were going to go to get the artifact, seeing as we'd gone over the plan with a map in front of us on the kitchen table almost 30 times.

So I took a bold move.

I chugged the rest of my drink and just as a waiter passed me, I placed my empty cup on the tray full of un-empty cups—(ignoring the disgusted look he gave them like the badass Y/n is). Adjusting my mask slightly, I slipped past everyone, going around them and sticking to the side lines until I made it to the door, taking one more look over my shoulder to make sure no one was watching, I nudged the door open and slipped through.

I leaned against my hands that were stationed behind my back as I discreetly closed the door before taking a step forward, feeling a subtle draft from the nearby vents against my legs.

My shoes clicked against the hard floors as I turned a corner, my eyes following the corridors path as I started to move a little faster.

There was a sudden crash as one of the doors burst open, Luz and Eda tumbling out as Luz held something under a cloth in her arms.

"You got it?" I whispered to them.
Luz nodded before continuing,

"We better go tho—the amount of noise Eda made, the guards would obviously be on their way by now." she whispered back.

"Hey, it wasn't all me!" Eda whisper shouted, pointing an accusatory finger at Luz.

Luz rolled her eyes before turning back to me, "yep, sure. Now lets go!"

I nodded, motioning for them to follow me, going through the same corridors we had planned the escape through.

Though, we were stopped, when there was a subtle noise from behind us, someone clicking their tongue.

"Well, well—looks like we've got some thieves on our hands."

We all spun around only to be met with a figure wearing a white button up, sleeves rolled up to the elbows, a pair of black suit pants and a matching black mask. He couldn't have been much older than me—16 or 17 atleast.
