"Becoming a demon slayer?"

He wasn't sure of it, anyone could tell from his face. But after a while, he made a choice.

It had been a week since the attack, and Obanai had been staying in the Kanroji house while the rest of his family had to be relocated to another place in Japan.

They had stolen so many goods dating back to even a century, in the end the corps didn't have anything to do with it so Ubayashiki left it at the hands of the authorities.

Now it was just him and the boy.

"Did you think about the proposal?" Kagaya said as he sat next to the boy. His thoughts fully focused on him, yet he could still hear the small footsteps of a girl behind the door before being shooed away by her parents.

Iguro and Kaburamaru made eye contact before nodding back to him.

From what he could tell, the boy sitting in front of him, Oyakata-sama, was the leader of the corps, yet he wondered how someone so young could manage so much work, he even looked to be around his age.

"I did think about it."

He was, after all, the reason Ubayashiki had come here in the first place.

"I'm not as strong as Tomioka-san, but I'll make sure to prove my worth. I promise to do my best since they have saved my life." Their thanks was not all of the reasons to become a demon slayer.

Iguro and Kaburamaru had no home to go to anymore, they never had one to begin with. The survivors would no doubt try to find them for revenge, and even if he were to go back to society, those scars in his face would remind him every day of what happened that night.

But there was also one more reason to fight, the one he had gained during this week. Though faint, it was a good motivation.

A gentle smile appeared on Oyakata-sama's face. "Iguro-san. You don't have to prove or give something back to us. We are demon slayers who kill demons out of our own will. There is no need to praise anyone, for the simple fact that we can protect other people's happiness and lives, is enough for us to keep going."

A soothing voice, Iguro couldn't understand why he was able to calm him down from the moment he met him, as if something told him to trust him, to respect him.

He did, by his actions and words of kindness he had already respected him from that moment on.

"So what did Iguro-san pick?"

Mitsuri said as she chewed on another sakura mochi, both of them had started eating after Oyakata-sama had gone away, surprisingly, just at the right time that it was time for dinner. Kanroji's parents told him and his wife that they could stay if they wished, though they still rejected nonetheless, they seemed pretty busy to him.

"I told him I would train."

I still can't forget the fear of the demon snake.

If there were others who were suffering or would've ought to suffer the same as him, then he couldn't live his life peacefully, no matter what. It just wouldn't make sense for him. He would be, in his own way, an accomplice to the demons just like his family.

Just the thought of turning like them made his blood boil.

"That's awesome! Then does that mean you will get really really strong no? Ah! Just like Tomioka-san?"

He nodded.
"Oyakata-Sama said that Tomioka-san will show me to a cultivator, so it could be true."

Mitsuri's eyes sparked in joy, the admiration written over them. Obanai couldn't help but laugh.
