Happy valentines day ~

And also the one year anniversary of this fic~
[Now fair notice that I don't exactly remeber when I posted the first chapter because I edit so much and didn't save the time of when I started it. Granted I probably know that it was somewhere between Jan and Feb because I remembered of the second story which I do have the updated date on.... and will update that one too...]

Enjoy a bit of Giyuu's angsty past

____________

"What is love, Tomioka-San?"

Naive, sweet and new.

Those were the words Giyuu used to describe the feelings of love, and how it had felt over the years.

But if he wanted to be realistic (which always made Kanae and Shinobu pout) he would have to say:

It's a stupid feeling that only ended in tragedy.

He was forbidden to call it that. Kanae warned him about it. Shinobu berated him about it. So he had no choice but to answer in the most "beautiful and kind" words to anyone who asked him with sincerity.

But anyways… Why was he the one who they should ask!?!?!? He never had a relationship! He never dated anyone! Confessed! Never!

He wasn't a love guru like Uzui!

He wasn't a fair maiden like Kanroji!

He wasn't a compulsive infatuated lover like Iguro!

He wasn't even a ladies man who would hang out in brothels like Shinazugawa!

So. Why. Was. Shinobu's. Little. Sister. Asking. H I M of all people!

"You shouldn't worry about stuff like that early on." God he sounded like a dad.

It was a good response nonetheless, especially since Kanao was still bedridden from all the injuries that she had sustained while battling Tan-The new demon king.

Giyuu of course, being a good (the last) friend of the Koucho's would come to check in on the butterfly house to see if they had been doing well.

"Kanae nee san told me that one day… I would find a special someone." Giyuu stopped his reading and for a moment he felt somber, it's been years since he had heard of someone talking about the former flower hashira.

"Kanae nee san told me that they would make my heart bloom and… and…" Giyuu turned down the book when he saw her start to shed some tears, but when their eyes met, Kanao tried to hold them in as much as she could and change the subject instead.

"Was there a person like that in Tomioka-San's life?"

...

"Why me?" Giyuu asked.

"Tomioka-San was always here and never smiled, never felt any emotion… until…"

Ah. Giyuu remembered when, it was about the time after Tanjiro had brought back Sabito's memories.

He was certainly smiling more now, even when the pain still grew in the passing of days.

"I know when."

"Did you meet someone?… if Tomioka-San is willing to share that information of course…"

He put on a small smile back again while patting her head, it was a bit awkward for him since this was a new thing, still, he didn't speak about it and Kanao did not question it (unlike the other butterfly nurses who had given him weird looks).
