"What the hell is going on?" I asked as the bridge became a chaotic mess
"Nick, we have an unknown ship entering the atmosphere and heading to what it looks like is New York" Maria answered
"And?" I asked
"NASA Satellites picked up what looks to be an all-out war in space"
"Shit, where are the Avengers?" I asked
"Natasha and Barton is on the other side of the world, Thor is off-world, we lost contact with Banner and Stark, seems like some sort of interference" Maria answered once more
Shit Shit Shit the only ones that can help at this point cannot even be contacted. Why is it New York again? God damn it.
Sharon walked up to me and said "Sir, The Council want to talk to you"
"Bring them up" I sighed
"Director Nick Fury, the council have decided to use our nukes to blow the ships out of our world."
These fools. I groaned inwardly "I disagree, we should attempt communications first-"
"This is no longer a decision you can make, the council has decided and we are only notifying you"
The screen blinked meaning that they ended the call. I smashed the screen. "Those. Fucking. Bastards."
"SIR, SEVERAL BUILDINGS HAVE COLLAPSED AND FRONT LINE AGENTS ARE KIA" Someone shouted in urgency
"Pull it up" I ordered "NOW!"
My face darkened as a video from one of the quick response units arrived at the scene to men in white armor shooting civilians without mercy. The video ended with a red flash.
"FUCK" I punched out my other monitor in anger
"SIR, ICBMs have been fired, target: New York" Someone yelled
"All First Responders have been marked KIA"
"Our fighters can't get near without being shot down"
One bad news after another.
Fuck my job. I'm done with this shit.
"SIR, THEY'RE FIRING AT THE CITY. WE'RE FACING AT LEAST A MILLION CASUALTIES"
"WHAT?!?" I shouted
"Our ICBMs have all been intercepted by their lasers" Someone reported quietly, in despair as humanity's greatest weapons are useless
Silence rang through the room
"The space battle has ended!" Another report, hopefully good-
"We have a dozen similar ships parked above the planet!"
"They are firing into the cities below them!"
I looked at them blankly "Please tell me we have at least one good news"
Some agents look like they are on the verge of a breakdown
