"Kuya! For sale po ba ito?" Tanong ko sa caretaker ng bahay namin...dati..
It's been a year since Ate Astrid went here for my graduation, she went back to LA after our trip to celebrate my graduation
Three days after my graduation, we went to a beach. I thought it would just be a normal trip bago bumalik si Ate sa LA but i was wrong, she told me a secret she discovered that made my world crumble
We're in a beach, mas lalo lang akong namangha sa dagat! It's calm waves, gentle breeze and relaxing sound.
I'm with Kuya, Ate Astrid, Trevor, and Kaiden
Kaming tatlo lang nila Kuya ang narito sa isang malaking cottage nag-uusap. They look so serious that it made me nervous.
"Remember when i told you i discovered a secret about our family?" Ate Astrid asked and then laughed but there was no humuor in it
"Uhh, what about that? I thought it's not something so serious, so..." i probed
"Aea, you're braver than me. I know you'll handle this perfectly. I hope so."
"Just tell me. Ano ba yun, Ate?" My hands are trembling, wala si Kai. He left the cottage a while ago nang pumasok sila Ate
"...Nagkasakit noon si Mommy dati nang gumaling sya mula sa sakit na yun, they thought na hindi na sya magkaka-anak..." Panimula ni Ate, i am listening intently and processing every words
"So...they...a-adopted me from a charity when i was months old"
Napasinghap ako, "What? That's ridiculous–"
"Let me finish, Astraea Yvette" mariin nyang pagbigkas, i scoffed at tumahimik
"But, two years after...They were shocked when Mom got pregnant, nagdalang tao si Mama kay Ash"
"What–Wait"
"Let me finished first, Astraea!" Ate's voice thundered, natakot ako. She never shouted at me but instead of getting mad, I realized her eyes were teary and she looks hurt and in pain "Both of my parents... biological parents...died... because our house got burned down, i was the only survivor. That's why Mom and Dad decided to adopt me because of my story and because they assume that Mom would never get pregnant"
"A year later...Dad...cheated"
"Fuck! No! That's not fucking true!" Sigaw ko at napatayo dahil alam ko na kung saan ito patungo, No! They are joking! They are fucking kidding me!
Kuya calmed me down at pinilit akong paupuin ulit, Ate's tears pooled.
"Dad cheated with another woman...with your Mom...your biological Mom"
"That is bullshit" my voice strained, "This is all bullshit. Do you expect me...No! No!"
"She got pregnant. Days after giving birth to you, she discovered she's a mistress so... she...k-killed herself"
Suminghap ako at tumingala to stop my tears from falling! No! Ayokong isipin ni Ate na naniniwala ako sa kalokohan nya!
"That's why, dinala ka ni Dad sa bahay. Mom forgave Dad and decided to keep it as a secret...pero nalaman ko. Narinig ko na pinag-uusapan nila Tita Belinda at Tita Karyle"
