Loki

Glorious purpose.

Was this really what his glorious purpose was? Finding a way to steal an immortality apple so he could be with the one he loved longer?

Well, if it was his glorious purpose, then Loki couldn't be mad. He quite liked you. Maybe you would even agree to try and conquer worlds with him. You could be a power couple with him, and no one would ever say anything different.

Sometimes he felt like he was too possessive, that he was denying you the choice to be with whoever you wanted. But then he remembered why would you be with anyone else when you could have him?

Stop it Loki. She's not yours. Sighing, Loki had to agree with his inner mind. You were not his. And you might never be if his thoughts keep going like they are now. Loki needs to learn that he can't control everything- most certainly not others, anyway. But he found it so hard to let go such control, especially after learning that his whole life had been under the control of Odin until not long ago.

But enough of these thoughts. Now he had to find a way to get the apple. This would be dangerous for him, considering that if he was found in Asgard, then he would immediately be sentenced to death. Anyone could take a shot at him if they saw him on that planet. Even getting into Asgard would be difficult, but Loki was willing. He'd found on his time at Earth that there were a few 'pockets' in the realm that connected to the other realms through Yggdrasil, the world tree. There was one that connected to the undertones of Asgard, completely hidden from view on both sides, so the chance on finding him straight away was very near zero. He just had to research the place more, and then he would be able to teleport there.

It turned out that the place he needed to go was Deception Island. After looking at computers in a public library (he, over time, had learnt to adjust to the ways of the humans, including their "modern" technology), he had enough information to teleport there.

Loki took a deep breath in. For her.

But the thing is, he wasn't even sure if she would accept it.

There was a real beauty to deception island, one that Loki hadn't seen too much of it in his life. The island definitely lived up to its name, with a beautiful array of colours with an active volcano not too far. There were also... what was the name again? Pengans? Pingins? On the island. All in all, a nice reprieve from the usual sights that he saw.  The passage to Asgard was just nearby the volcano. He should be able to quickly gain access and get in, hopefully without Heimdall watching him. Loki didn't know if Heimdall would rat on him or not, and he was not ready for Odin to come after him.

After taking another deep breath in (he seemed to like doing those lately) Loki set track on for the portal, thankful that the walk wouldn't be too long and that he had nice things to look at.

But he better hurry. His skin was starting to turn blue. And who knows what else might be out here.

You

"Ugh," you mutter. You'd just finished work and was currently stumbling into your apartment, throwing the keys in a random place that you'll find later. At the moment, all you wanted (and needed, that's for sure) was a shower. A long, hot shower.

You walked to the bathroom when your phone goes off. You glance down at it, expecting it to be Amy- can she wait fifteen minutes?- but it's your mum instead. Surprised, you answer. The shower can wait for a couple more minutes.

"Mum?"

"Hey, baby. Are you doing okay? I haven't heard from you in a while." You smile at your mother's words. It was true, you hadn't talked to her in while. You had been too busy caught up in the mess that your life is at the moment.

"I'm doing... alright." As soon as you say it, you cringe. There was no way that your mother was going to believe that.

"Honey, what's going on?" It was in the tone. That one, stupid tone that made you divulge your secrets. Your mother spoke in that tone when she wanted to get things out of you- purely out of concern, of course. You were her only child, her only example of her parenting. She wanted to be the best mum, first try.

"Can I visit sometime?" Speaking over the phone to your mum about your problems would usually be alright, but this was a matter to big- your mother loved Loki. She would be devastated to hear what had happened over the phone.

"Of course honey. Come by any time. When should I expect you?"

"Tomorrow. Thanks mum."

"Bye sweetie," your mum says, and hangs up. You go into the shower feeling happy.

Now, to buy the plane tickets.

Time for a quick trip to Australia. Gosh, when I say it like that I sound like I'm made of money. You sigh, looking at your phone briefly. You'll have to contact work...

And everyone else. It's worth it, though, to see mum again.

Time Skip

It was two days later, and you were standing outside of your parent's home in Australia with your suitcase dragging behind you. You hesitantly, but somehow confidently ring the doorbell. You hear a "I'm coming!" and in no less than ten seconds the polished door opens to reveal your mother. She greets you with a beaming smile.

"Well don't just stand there. Come in!" Your mum pushes the door wide open and you go to your room that is still in it's teenage stage phase. You cringe on seeing the vast amount of random posters on the walls that used to be your everything. Now, your interests had changed almost entirely, with none of the posters of bands being relevant to you anymore. You smiled in sadness at your room. How things have changed. If only life could always be so carefree like it used to. You longed for the state of bliss where nothing really mattered, and there was no pressure in relationships to sustain them. You had used to talk to your friends all the time, but after you had all graduated, you had drifted apart. You barely contacted any of them anymore, except for Amy. Amy stuck through.

Losing friends happens to the best of us.

And to the worst of us, too.

You think about your high school friends and what life was like for a while, drinking in all the old sentiments that came with being in the room you hadn't entered for three years. After a little while, your mother must have gotten fed up with you being holed up in your room because she suddenly barged in without knocking, leaving you to yelp in fright.

"Mum!"

"Look missy, you didn't come here just to be in your room the whole time. Come downstairs. I'm making dinner. You can tell me what's going on, okay?"

You relaxed at your mother's words and let a genuine smile sit on your face. "Okay." Gratefulness spread through your features and your mum nodded, leaving the room and closing the door with a silent click. You looked around the room once more, knowing that you'd see it again soon anyway so there was no need to dwell on it, before opening the door and following your mother downstairs. She had made one of your favourite dishes, and you heart warmed at the sight of a nice homecooked meal made by your mother, who had cared for you since you were born. Maybe this is what you needed. Some time with your mother to help sort things out in your head. You think back to your apartment, and find that you feel a great sadness in it. From everything that's happened, it would be best to stay away for some time.

Just to back on track. Refocus my goals. Realise what's actually important to me.

"Here you go," mum hands you your plate and you go and sit on the couch in front of the TV, too lazy to sit at the dining table. Your mother then joins you with her own plate. You both eat in silence for a few minutes, both wrapped up in the movie playing on TV.

You then feel as though you should start the conversation off. "Something happened not too long ago."

"Well that's obvious. What happened?" You find spirit in your mother's bluntness.

You continue. "You remember Loki? Well, he broke up with me."

Your mother gasped. "Loki? Six-foot-something-wannabe-Mr.-Darcy?"

You couldn't contain your laugh. "Yes, that's him."

Your mother rose up in her seat, gaining a newfound interest. "Tell me everything."

And so you did.
