Eyes opening and blinking from the bright light, you sat up only for you to feel a hand over your own. Looking down at where the hand was, your eyes widened the moment you saw your redheaded friend. Lightly snoring on the bed with his hand over yours, Diluc's usual untamed hair was even more messy than usual. Slowly trying to slide your hand from under his, the grip around your hand tightened even more.

“Y/n…” Diluc suddenly murmured as you saw a single tear fall from his dark eye-bagged eyes to the bed.

Patting his head to smooth out his hair, your heart bloomed with warmth. This was the first time that anyone had ever waited by your side like this and you couldn’t help but greatly cherish it. Under your hand, Diluc’s ruffled hair felt surprisingly soft, like a cloud in the sky and you couldn’t help but continue to pat his head.

“Mmm,” Diluc’s eyes opened while you were contently patting his hair.

“Diluc!” You immediately pulled your hand back as soon as the two of you met eye contact.

“Y/n,” Diluc smiled with joy before pulling you into a tight hug before choking on his words as he tried to talk. “Y/n! Y/n, I’m so glad you’re ok. You’ve been asleep for a month….”

You hugged Diluc’s shaking figure back and rested your head over his shoulder ignoring his earlier statement. A moment of silence and comfort filled the room. It was a moment that you would cherish forever in your memories. The first genuine hug that you had after being freed from your chains.

He released you and gave you a smile of pure joy with a touch of mystery. He gripped your hands and his eyes gleamed with happiness from seeing you awake.

As if waking from a trance after remembering something out of the blue, he suddenly stood up and gave one more smile to you before leaving the room without saying a word. His coat flowing from his quick pace, you were left confused and bewildered by his unexpected actions.

"Diluc-" you tried to call out his name before he closed the door of the room you were staying in.

Shocked from his sudden action, you let your head fall to the pillow and stared at the ceiling. Why did he suddenly leave without even saying a word? What was he planning?

As you were lost in your thoughts, a knock came from the door.

"Miss y/n," a female voice said. "May I enter?"

Curious about the reason behind the question, you answered, "Sure."

“Miss y/n,” the maid who had walked in the room. "Shall we fix you up?"

"Fix me up?" You wondered.

"Yes!" The maid vigorously nodded her head in excitement to your confusion.

Pulling you along with her and off your bed, she dragged you to the mirror and had you stand in place before you could even ask what was going on. Brushing your hair and massaging your shoulders, she cleaned you up. After she was done, she pulled a knee-high dress out of the closet and grinned with excitement. A flowing white dress with a light pink highlight at the bottom while being lightly decorated with small gem-like flowers swirling around the bottom of the dress flowed in front of you.

“What do you think Miss y/n?” the maid asked you.

“Why the dress?” you questioned.

The maid looked up at the ceiling in thought before looking back at you with her finger on her chin, “It’s a secret.”

“Seriously,” you shook your head. “I’m in the dark here. Can’t you explain what’s going on?”

“You’ll see soon enough.”

Having you put on the dress, the maid forced you to sit down in front of a mirror as she started to comb your hair. Gracefully and gently tying your hair into a side ponytail, she wound a small strand of hair around the tie to hide it. After that, she curled the tips and sprayed them to keep them curled properly. Grabbing your hand, she pulled you along with her towards the entrance of the mansion where a familiar face was waiting.

“Y/n,” Diluc smiled with loving eyes as he stared at you.

Blushing from the attention, you covered your face a looked away not being able to say anything. He looked absolutely handsome with that smile. A smile that could make nearly any girl weak at the knees.

“What’s wrong y/n?” Diluc pulled you to him which forced you to look up at him.

“What’s going on?” your ears heated up. “Why did I have to wear this dress and why were you waiting for me here?”

Once again smiling, Diluc hugged you to his sturdy body and placed his chin over your head. Not being able to do anything, you just accepted the hug and took in the smell of his cologne.

“You said you wanted to see the festival,” Diluc started. “So let’s go see it. I promised you that I would bring back the Dawn Winery Festival didn’t I?”

Covering your mouth with your hands in surprise, you didn’t know what to say. You didn’t know that he would have taken what you had said seriously and had actually brought it back after how dejected he had looked when it was last mentioned. It must have brought back painful memories for him yet, he had done it for you.

“You remembered?” you whispered, not knowing what else to say.

“Of course.”

“Thank you,” you said into his chest.

Diluc looked up before closing his eyes, “It’s me who should be thanking you.”

He released you and held your hand in his own callused hands. Opening the door for you, you were greeted by enthusiastic conversations and cheerful people walking around the winery and drinking Dandelion Wine. Smiles full of joy filled the area.

Pulling him along with you, you dragged Diluc with you to explore the festival as well. Grinning with excitement from your first ever festival, Diluc followed you to the different stalls as your hands tightened around each other to keep from being separated.
