The sound of water blocked out Jason's voice.

He was telling me the battle plan for when we arrive in St. Louis. I steped out of my cabin with Jason following me. My foot was immediately wet. Water was rapidly filling up.

I quickly moved as fast I could to the stairs.

Leo had a cup from the kitchen and was getting some of the water out. We had found the Mississippi River and had been floating down it.

"Leo, what's going on?" I screamed over the current.

"We hit a rock!" he shouted. I went out onto the deck where Percy and Annabeth were.

They looked concerned.

"With the speed at which the boat is filling," Annbath said, "And the time we need to get to the arch, we won't be able to get to the arch."

That news terrified me. If we couldn't get the the arch, that meant we couldn't defeat the monster Jason.

"Couldn't Percy, like, do something?" Jason asked.

Percy shook his head. "I tried," he said, "My dad went on a vacation to the Bahamas. He won't be back till Thursday."

Yep, we were screwed. Nothing we could do, we were all going to die except Percy, and the monsters would take over the world.

"I have an idea!" Leo said, "It's just crazy enought to work!"

"Well, then," Annabeth said, "Let's hear it."

"This is totally and completely crazy," I said, "Why are we doing this?"

"Leo thinks it will work." Annabeth told me for the hundredth time.

What we were doing was stuffing sheets in the place the rock had hit. All it was doing was soaking our sheets and hitting us with water.

"It's going to work!" Leo said, "Jason, go get more sheets with Piper."

Jason took my arm and we went to the sheet cabinet. There were no sheets left there. We had to take some from the beds.

We had a bit of a delay when we got to Percy's room.

For one thing, Jason tripped every step, and I couldn't even get in. Percy obviously never cleaned, or ever saw what color his wood floor was.

"I think there's an animal in here..." Jason said, "Either that or Percy sheds whit hair."

"Just get the sheets," I laughed.

Jason finally got his sheets. Then he stepped in a puddle of water.

"I can think of a million things that is," Jason said, "But I'm assuming they're not holding up well. We need to move on."

When we came back, Leo was sitting on the sheets trying to stop the water.

“We got the sheets,” Jason said like it wasn’t obvious, “And, uh, Leo, you might wanna change your pants."

“It doesn’t matter. I can dry them really fast with fire. Just give us the sheets!”

Jason handed over the sheets, and they held. They held for about five minutes, then gave out and water kept coming in.

“We need something more absorbent,” Annabeth said, “Jason, Piper, will you go get the towels from upstairs? Please?”

We nodded and quickly went upstairs to the carts of towels. There were about ten in each cart, so we decided to only get one.

On the way back, my crutch decided to break.
