It was about two in the morning, but Mitchell was awake.

“You okay?” He asked me. I nodded; looking around cabin ten making sure it was cabin ten. It was.

“Why are you up?” I asked, turning to Mitchell. He shrugged.

“Couldn’t sleep. What were you dreaming about? You looked like you were fighting.”

“Oh, well, I think I have to become friends with Reyna,” I started.

“Jason’s girlfriend?” he asked. I shot him a look. “Oh, sorry, Jason’s friend who is a girl.”

“Anyway,” I said through clenched teeth, “Jason was attacking me, and,” I couldn’t say the rest. It was to painful to say.

“Reyna saved you,” Mitchell finished for me. I looked at him, astonished.

“How-“

“Shh, I think Drew’s waking up. Pretend you’re asleep.” He put his head down on his pillow and closed his eyes. I followed, but didn’t close my eyes. Instead I looked at Drew. She was tossing and turning, but didn’t sit up. It seemed like an hour before she finally started snoring again.

I looked over at Mitchell, who was also looking at Drew. He looked at me to give the clear signal. “I just guessed since you paused, the only person you could be talking about was Reyna.”

“Oh.” I couldn’t think of anything else to say. Mitchell had something to say.

“Are you going to California?” he asked, “Like, with Hazel?

“Uh, yes,” my mouth and heart said, even though my head said ‘no’. I think I just charmspoke myself.

“So, Lacy’s going to be the head counselor until you get back?”

“Yesss,” I said, carrying out my ‘s’ way to long, “Is that a problem?”

“No, she’s great, but not the same as you. Next to Silena, you’re the best counselor we’ve had since I’ve been here.”

My mouth opened, but no words came out. It stayed open a while. That was the nicest thing anyone, except Jason, has ever said to me. “

“Really?”  I finally asked him.

“Of course. You think I would lie to the head counselor?” he asked and I smiled. We didn’t say another word after that.

I fell asleep. No dreams. At all.

I woke up about six that morning. Mitchell was up, dressed, and reading on his bed. I sat up.

“Hey,” he said.

“Hey. How long have you been up?”

“I fell asleep after you did and woke up about two hours later. I’ve been up ever since.”

I nodded and got my clothes together, Camp Half-Blood t-shirt and tattered jeans, then went to the bathroom to get ready. I came out a minute later and put on my tattered sneakers.

"Have you thought about going to California any more than getiing there alive?"

"Oh my gods," I said and stood up so fast I popped my back. "I have to go tell Hazel." I ran out of cabin ten with out tying my other shoe. I did'nt stop until I was at cabin thirteen's door. I knocked; no answer. I was getting impatient, so I knocked again. The third time I knocked, very hard, Hazel came.

She was wearing a purple shirt- the same kind Jason was wearing when we were on the bus for the Wilderness School- and jeans. Her hair wasn't brushed, so it was wild. Mine wasn't, either, so my straight hair might be, too.

"What do you want?" Hazel asked, obviously annoyed. People are annoyed with me often, so I'm used to it. "You do realize it's about two in the morning in California, right?"

"Well, you're up," I said.

"Get in," she said. I followed her in.

"I thought you were Nico knocking," Hazel said.

"Why would I be Nico?"

"Well, he's coming later, so what did you want to talk about?"
