Ananbeth and I watched Hazel come down. It wasn't until she got off of her pegasus we left cabin ten. When we left the cabin, we ran over to Rachel, who had just appeared an hour ago. We exchanged glances. Who? Rachel mouthed. A girl from Camp Jupiter, Nico's half-sister I mouthed back
"Hazel," Percy said, "What are you doing here?"
"Oh, hey, Percy," she said, "I'm here to tell Piper something. Oh, dear. Hazel wants to talk to me? This has to be about Jason, it just has to.
"H-hey, Hazel," I stuttered. Now, I'm not sure why I stuttered, but at that moment, it was pretty scary, I guess.
"Piper," she said. No Hey, Piper, how's it going? or How've you been, Piper? "We have trouble at Camp Jupiter." Oh, no. Not Camp Jupiter. Jason was at Camp Jupiter. Hazel must have seen my worried face, because she said, "Yeah, that means Jason. He's the problem." I tried my best not to vomit. That was terrible! I started to cry, so I ran back to cabin ten, jumped on my bed, and curled up in a ball like I always do when I'm worried or sad. Mainly sad.
Annabeth and Hazel come sit on my bed next to me. Annabeth pushed a stray piece of hair behind my ear like a mom would do. "What did she do to him?" I cried to Hazel.
Annabeth and Hazel exchanged a glance. "Who?" Hazel asked.
"Reyna."
"She did nothing, Piper, she did absolutely nothing."
"What?" I asked, sitting up. I was really confused. "What do you mean?"
"Piper, Reyna is just like you. She doesn't know what the heck is wrong with Jason." I couldn't say anymore. I put my chin on my knees.
"So, what now?" Annabeth asked.
"Only one thing we can do," I said, my chin still on my knees, "go to California and get Jason to snap out of it." I bet I could charmspeak him out of it.
Annabeth, of course, read my mind. "Piper, if this is the work of a god, you can't charmspeak him out of it. If it's the work of a demi-god, you might be able to, but it would be very hard and exhausting." I sighed. She was right, as usual. I put my legs down in front of me and crossed my arms. Life is unfair, I hope you realize that.
"There is another way," Hazel said eying Annabeth out of the corner of her eye, "You and Reyna-"
"No!" I said.
"Well, I'll be back tomorrow, have a discesion by then." And with that she left. Annabeth hugged me me then left. The whole Aphrodite cabin was standing in the door.
"You," Drew said, "let a Roman in our cabin?"
"Shut up, Drew," Lacy said, "You almost let Jason in this cabin." Dre gave her a look like: Well, that was, uh what? When did I do that? Haw, um.
"So, Piper, what did Hazel say?" Lacy asked, the whole cabin crowded around my bed.
I considered lying, but they would eventually find out. "She said Jason was in trouble and if I want him back, Reyna and I would have to work together to get him back." I didn't cry. I really didn't.
"Oh, wow," Lacy said, sitting down next to me, "that's terrible."
It was really late, like eleven, so we got ready for bed. It took a while for me to fall asleep; my mind was somewhere else.
My dream went like this: It was dark. There was a noise off in the distance, but I could barely hear it. It sounded like a bird of some sort.
I saw Jason, standing in the distance with his sword in his hand. He was looking at me.
He nodded and wolves came out. They started attacking me. I fought them off as best I could, but my knife broke in two. Charmspeak didn’t work.
The only other thing I could think of was finding Reyna and asking for help. She was the daughter of the war goddess; she would be a good alliance. I couldn’t reach her.
Jason was growing, growing; growing so tall I could barely see his icy blue eyes. I turned my head away and put my hand up toward him. He was going to stomp me with his giant foot. Someone protected me.
I woke up.
Reyna had protected me.
