Louis scrubbed a hand over his face, letting out a long sigh. Beside him on the sitting room sofa was Ana in a similar state of overwhelmed. She watched the male omega closely, understanding all too well how Louis felt and trying desperately to keep a tight lid on her own anxiety.

"So our alphas are soulmates, irrevocably bonded. And their bond makes us soul bonded. And that's why you and I have felt drawn to one another since we met." Louis repeated slowly the gist of what Anna had just told him.

Louis' version, though oversimplified, was essentially their situation in a nutshell.
As Dr. White had told her, The twins shared an extremely rare bond only occurring between alpha multiples. This bond is so strong that it's as though that their inner alphas merge, like sharing a soul. Even apart, the bond stays intact. It can be suppressed but not broken. Louis and Ana's inner omegas have recognized both alphas as their alpha which generated a tentative bond between the two omegas, an even rarer omega soul bond. Not much was known about soul bonds, rare to begin with and almost nonexistent in modern society. Doctors and scholars theorized that alphas could withstand the effects of being separate from a soul bonded mate, an excruciating experience but one that could fade into manageable discomfort over time. An omega however, wouldn't stand a chance, the separation likely causing an extreme form of deprivation, a terminal condition.

"Basically." Ana murmured, taking the last sip of gin from her glass.

"Now what?" Louis questioned, pinching the bridge of his nose as his mind whirled

"I suppose we tell, Edward and Harry"

Louis snorted a humorless laugh. "I can only imagine how that will go"

The words stung as the guilt twisted its way back into Ana's chest. She felt responsible for this, If she would have just listened; been a good omega for once.

The dread and anxiety that colored Louis' words, evident in his entire demeanor, reaffirmed her fear that this wasn't going to end well.

Tears clouded her vision, distorting her view of the room before spilling over. The room, that was splashed in vibrantly colored sunlight just hours ago now painted with inky shadows as the night crept in. The radiant windows reduced to a cold dark mosaic, as if the tense conversation between them had slowly drained their surroundings of light and levity.

"I'm so sorry, Louis. Truly I am. I should have never come to that gala, I should have listened and none of this would have happened. I ruin everything and I'm so sorry, I never meant to drag you into this." Ana tried her best to keep her voice from trembling, but failed as she poured out her apology to Louis.

Seeing the tears drip down Ana's cheeks broke something deep in Louis. He loathed the site of her upset, sparking an innate need to comfort his omega. And now that need made sense, she was soul bonded to him. He felt what she felt. He shifted from his place on the couch, placing a comforting hand on her shoulder.

"You aren't ruining anything, Ana. We didn't have any control over this. It was inevitable, just like Dr. white told you." Louis reassured as he wrapped his arms around the trembling omega. He felt Ana relax into his hold ever so slightly. Omegas were tactile creatures by nature and often sought comfort from one another through physical touch, but this was something else entirely. The way she fit with him was undeniable; two pieces of a greater whole that just belonged with one another.

"I don't know what to do, Louis." Ana whispered through her quiet sobs.

He held her closer and her arms wrapped around him as well. Holding tight to one another as though the only thing holding them together was the other's touch.
"I'm scared too." Louis whispered back. "But I trust that our alphas love us, and I trust you, and we'll get through this, Ana. All of us." He tried his best to sound convincing, attempting to assure himself as much as Ana.
