This one is kinda short by my standards, but I've had Impulse and Skizz brainrot and I just wanted to write something cute. I used the prompt below, from an autumn prompts generator.

Prompt: This story takes place on a Friday night. You must mention an umbrella, use the word 'yellow', and include this line of dialogue: "You're amazing."

Just to be clear, the relationship here is written as queerplatonic. They are pretty close and cuddly, but I've been leaning away from shipping Impulse and don't mean it to be romantically shippy.

Also! This is in a developing AU where Impulse has solar powers and Skizz has ice powers :]

Enjoy!

Autumn was one of Skizz's favorite seasons, next only to winter. He loved the chill, just cold enough for sweaters and blankets but not quite cold enough for coats. When the leaves began to turn beautiful shades of yellow, orange, and red, walking around the neighborhood or in the nearby woods to see them was a favorite activity. Even indoors during autumn, he enjoyed, spending hours with Impulse either in the kitchen making fall desserts like pumpkin and apple pies or on the couch, cuddling under a blanket, and watching holiday movies.

One particular Friday evening, Skizz managed to drag Impulse to the woods, just to take a walk and see the leaves that had started turning a week prior. His platonic partner had tried to protest, not wanting to deal with the chill in the air that day; but eventually, he gave in, not able to say no to Skizz's puppy eyes for long.

So here they were, hands clasped as they strolled beneath color-filled branches. Gentle rustling, birds twittering, frogs croaking, and other forest ambience surrounded them. Relaxed, they chatted quietly, enjoying the moments they spent together. A peaceful hour seemed to pass in no time.

However, as night approached, dark clouds covered the sky. The forest grew silent in anticipation of a storm. Skizz and Impulse began making their way home, but they didn't escape the rain. With a clap of thunder, water poured from the skies and onto the pair, hindered little by the leaves overhead.

"I told you there'd be a storm!" Impulse said indignantly, flipping wet brunette hair out of his face.

"Yeah... you did..." Skizz admitted, equally disliking how soaked he was already. "Sorry I didn't listen."

Impulse crossed his arms over his yellow turtleneck with a scowl, but it didn't last long. "It's okay," he sighed. "We're stuck in the rain now, though, and home is still a ways away."

"True..." Skizz paused, suddenly thinking of something.

With some concentration and a dramatic flourish, he conjured an umbrella made of ice in his hand. Lifting it and pulling Impulse close, he made it cover them both, earning a sigh of relief from the other as the rain stopped hitting him. Impulse glanced up at Skizz, his brown eyes speckled with gold and his skin glowing softly as he used his powers to emit heat and warm them both.

"You're amazing." Impulse smiled, his gaze flicking up to the umbrella briefly.

Skizz chuckled and booped his nose. "So are you."

Giggling, Impulse leaned closer to Skizz. "Let's get home. I need dry clothes and some coffee."

Some time later, Skizz collapsed onto the couch, wearing a fresh set of clothes. Impulse joined him, clutching a coffee mug. After spreading a blanket over them, Skizz grabbed the remote and began scrolling through movies until he found one he knew they both liked. Leaning back, he put an arm around Impulse, who leaned against him in response.

Even with the storm, today had been another incredible day. As the movie finished a few hours later and Skizz looked over to see Impulse asleep next to him, he decided with a smile that he wouldn't have things any other way.
