Nandini calm yourself
She said to herself

She could not help but cry thinking how Manik pushed her away

It was not her calm and composed professor who always maintained his cool, neither was it her Manik who made her feel butterflies rather today she saw a guy who was hurt, she could see it in his eyes. He was broken, beyond repair

Even when he pushed her Nandini could feel he was breaking from inside, bit by bit.

But then why, why did he hurt her. She needed answers and she knew how to get him to speak up the truth but before that she needed to take care of herself. Shutting her eyes she forced herself to sleep.

Here Manik was standing in the balcony smoking the fourth cigarette in a row, Cabir came there and threw it

He was about to speak however when hee saw the condition of Manik's face he stopped. Manik looked like a corpse, hee was half dead.

H whispered and held hi friend

I lost her Cabir I lost her
He said chuckling, his tone was full of that dark humour and Cabir's heart broke into pieces when he saw his friend like that

Manik listen calm down come here sit
Cabi brought him to his rom and made him sit on his bed, grabbing the jug he poured water in a glass and made him drink it

Tell me what happened I am hre okay I am here and I am going to be here till the end, tell me what happened Manik
He comforted Manik

Cabir Nandini
A lone tear rolled down his eyes, he said and it did no take long for him to understand they were not on good terms but what could have gone so wrong that Manik cried

He told Cabir what all had happened and he realised that Manik was in fact drunk

Cabir thought

He somehow made Manik sleep and went down to Mukti's room

Mukti asked as soon as Cabir came in her sight

He is ok now but he is definitely in deep trouble
Cabir said pinching thee bridge of his nose and Mukti looked at him almost like a lost puppy

Don't worry Mukti, everything will be fine just give it some time
He assured her but he himself was in two minds about the whole scenario

He plastered a kiss in her temple and moved out to his own room

God give strength to both of them
He muttered before falling on his bed

Another day went without Manik and Nandini's hope was dying, what wring did she do. Why isn't Manik here with her like he always does why ?

She wanted to go and talk to him again but she recalled what Mukti said and decided to give him time

Professor Manik is here today
Nandini heard her fellow students gushing over Manik

Finally after a week

Manik is here
She smiled

The entire economic lecture Nandini was smiling like a fool

Jason even asked if something had happened but she shrugged it off

Goo morning students
Manik said clearing his throat

Good morning professor
Thu all wished

Sir are you okay we all were missing you
Alya said, others too agreed Manik smiled and shook his head. Nandini knew it was a fake smile

I'm good just had something to take care of
Hi eyes unconsciously drifted to Nandini and he found her already looking at him

Thier brief eye contact was disturbed by othr students who wanted to talk to him more

Stephie wants to talk to you
Dhruv said as he came to sit beside her

Nandini asked

Yes now because she wants to apologise plus look at the class professor Manik is talking to students
He said and Nandini nodded looking at him

Stephie came at Dhruv's place

Look Stephie whatever is it please get done with already I really don't enjoy cat fights
Nandini spat

Nandini see tht day when I snapped at you it as because I was jealous, I don't know it you are aware of this or not but I love Jason. I always did and when we came here all of a sudden you became his close friend, I just thought you will steal him away
She stopped in between

Love is quite visible Stephie but it really doesn't give you any right to be rude to others
Nandini said and Stephie looked down

I understand that also I promise I will not behave like that hereafter
Nandini smiled and saw Alya looking at her raising her brow she returned the action to him

She pointed at Stephie and Nandini messaged her that she'll talk to her

For the first time there were no eye locks, no smile exchanged, no blush on Nandini's cheek

They period passed and now Nandini was walking through the corridor. Being lost in her thoughts she didn't even realise sh stumbled upon someone and her bag fell down

And oh dramatically it was Manik, even before he could process th words left his mouth on thier own

Careful kiddo
He said and Nandini looked up

She whispered and looked at him emotionally

This reminded both of them when they first met

Nandini hugged Manik not caring she was standing in the middle of college, she knew any one could walk in any moment yet the longing in her heart overpowered her mind. She clung to him like a baby aand he did not have the heart to jerk her away he wrapped his arms around her small frame inhaling her scent

She was about to ask him questions when he held her hand and said

Not now kiddo tonight

She nodded and somehow passed the day

Hideout*

I thought you won't come
Nandini said and Manik kept in looking at her

How could I not
He held out his hand and Nandini grabbed it sitting besides him

So many thoughts, so many unanswered questions but her heart was finally at peace. She realised that Manik's arms was her home

This realisation was leading somewhere but for the time being Manik is my priority
This is what she had said to herself

Manik said and Nandini asked him

He said looking in her eyes

We didn't even talk yet
She chuckled and Manik seemed dazed

What if I say I missed being with you
Manik asked and Nandini kept her mouth shut
