-1 hour earlier-

After Marie canceled, my mood immediately changed . I know she said she was watching her cousin but I mean cmon does she really think I'm dumb?

Was it something I said? Or something I did?
I looked at myself in the mirror
What's wrong with me? Why doesn't she want to hang out with me? I already felt that lump in my throat, you know the one you feel when you're about to cry.
I hate this.

"Lukie" Michael sang walking in my room,
"Wha- what's wrong?" He asked
"She canceled" I said with my head down
"Hey Luke you almost don- hey what happened?" Ashton asked walking in my room along with Calum.

"She canceled" I said again
"Dang I'm sorry" Calum said
"Well what did she say?" Ashton asked

"She said she was 'watching her cousin' because 'he's isn't feeling good'" I said with air quotes.
"Not the cousin excuse" Michael said

"Michael!" Ashton said slapping his arm.
"Wha- okay sorry" Michael said with his arms in surrender.

"You know what you gotta do" Ashton said
"What?" I asked.
"Act along" he said
"What do you mean by that?" I asked in confusion.

"Bring soup for 'her cousin'" he said in air quotes.
"But I already asked if she needed help and she said no" I said.
"So.... Be a gentleman" he said.

"Umm I still don't know what you're heading towards" I said
He sighed
"Ugh okay here the plan, you bring soup for 'her cousin' and when you don't see her cousin there, you confront her" he said

"Ohhh okay good idea" I said agreeing.
So that's exactly what I did.

-present time-

I knocked on her door. Right when that door had swung open I felt my heart shatter.

It was him on her couch watching my favorite tv show! He definitely ruined How I Met Your Mother for me.

Is this why she ditched me?! To hang out with this asshole!

"Luke" she said with her eyes in shock.
"Uh wha- what are you doing here?" She asked
"I- uh I bought your cousin some soup" I said.

~MARIES POV~

Fuck! This! This is why I never lie
"I- uh I bought your cousin some soup" he said.
I could see the hurt in his eyes.

"Oh thanks" I said.
Thanks? Thanks? Cmon Marie is that all you could say?

"Your cousin isn't really here is he?" He asked.
He caught me.
"Listen Luke I'm really sorr-"
"No it's okay" he said interrupting my sentence.

I was speechless
"I-uh I hope you have a good time hanging out with Samuel" he said with a fake smile.

"Luke" I called out.
"Please" I said.
"Marie I know we just met and everything but i don't know I guess I just thought you weren't like this" he said.

"Like what?" I asked.
"Like this" he said pointing towards Samuel who was now outside too.
"Hanging out with the fuckboy from school who's obviously just trying to get in your pants!" He said.
"I mean can you not see what he's trying to do to you" he said.

But aren't you the fuckboy Luke?
"Are you trying to sleep with him so you could become prom Queen? Huh? Is that what you're trying to do?" He asked.
I felt like I was going to break down right then and there.

"Luke what the fuck is wrong with you?!"
"How can you say that?" I said with tears streaming down my eyes
"Well I'm right aren't I?" He asked.
"No! What the fuck?"
"Do you really think that little of me?" I asked.
"I don't know at first i didn't but I guess I was wrong about you, you're just like every other wannabe popular girl" He asked. I could tell that he wasn't himself anymore.

I ran back inside my house and locked my doors so that both Luke and Samuel couldn't get in.
I ran to my room and cried.

~LUKES POV~

I'm a fuckin idiot!
How could I say that to her.
"Nice job Lukey" Samuel said patting my back.
"But all you're doing is making it easier for me to get to her" he said.
"Oh cool soup, thanks dude, well see you at school Lukey" he said messing up my hair and leaving with the soup.

"MARIE" I said knocking on her front door.
"Please! I need to talk!" I said.
"Oh hello" a woman behind me said.
"H-hi" I said.
"Are you a friend of Maries?" She asked
"Yes" I said
"But she doesn't want to talk to my right now" I said

"We'll what happened?" She asked
"I made a huge mistake" I said.
"I basically said that she's just trying to sleep with our school's most popular boy just to be popular" I said.
"Oh well um wh-why would you say that?" She asked.

I sighed.
"I didn't mean to honestly, it's just i want to warn her about him that's all" I said.
"I didn't mean what I said, I'm just worried for her" I said
"You like her?" She asked
"What? No! Why does everybody think that?! I don't like her!" I said
"Okay okay, you don't" she said with her hands in surrender.

"But if i'm being honest uh....." she paused.
"Luke it's Luke" I said
"Okay well if im being honest Luke I think maybe you should give Marie her space right now" she said in a sorry face.
"Okay I respect that, but can you please tell her that I'm very sorry" I said.
"Yea I will" she said going inside her home.
I took one more look at the house and left.

Do I have feelings for her?
Is that why I said those things?
Because I love her?
