(Dorothy POV)

I have made up my mind. I will apologize to my daughters for all I've put them through. Dorothy thought as she slowly began to walk towards her front door, her blonde hair brushing her shoulders gently. She knew she had to apologize eventually, and she believed that now was the time. She grabbed her keys and purse, looking back one more time at the house that held oh so many memories - good and bad. She shook her head, as if to shake the thoughts away, leaving the house and walking slowly down the road.

Her thoughts were racing as she slowly moved closer to the house, her blood beating loud and hard in her ears. What if they don't forgive me for what I've done? Oh, who am I kidding, I treated them terribly. Not even ten minutes later, she was standing outside the house, panicking while her hands trembled. She lifted her hand to knock.

(Trish POV)

Jessica presents the drink to me, as if it were a trophy to be proud of. I wouldn't call alcohol a trophy but it really can make you feel better about yourself, even for just a minute. I would be filled with joy if I were holding a bottle of wine too.

"Are you sure you don't want any?" She asked, a smile creeping onto her face. I shook my head in response. I told myself I wouldn't drink until after six. It is currently five in the afternoon. Of course it's taken longer than expected to get used to the timing, a few drinks here and there earlier than one should, but I'm trying at least. Jessica said she would as well, but I guess she must have forgotten. She's only had a couple of drinks so I wouldn't say she was anywhere close to drunk, but she definitely wasn't sober.

She is not what she expected to be. I laughed quietly to myself, bringing her attention to me. "What are you laughing at?" I hadn't realised she heard me, which only caused me to laugh harder. I was going to tell her but then... Knock Knock.

I stood up to open the door, only to see my mother standing there, looking anxious. She smiled nervously at me. "Can I come in?" She asked, her voice barely audible over the sound of cars driving by. I nodded, not saying anything in response. I moved out of the way, holding the door open so she could walk past me. We both walked back into the main room where Jessica sat drinking her wine. She looked up as we walked in, her smile faltering for a second.

Jessica was the first to speak, breaking the silence. "What are you doing here?". Mum held an awkward smile, her eyes flicking between me and Jessica for a moment before speaking.

"I wanted to apologize," she began, her voice shaking, "for everything I've done to you girls. I treated you so badly over the years and I hurt you so much. I'm so sorry." Tears began falling from her face as she sobbed quietly. "And I promise I will change my ways." Me and Jessica made eye contact almost instantly. She looked confused and also shocked.

After a couple of seconds, Jessica stood up and approached us, wrapping her arm around mum and patting her shoulder.

"Mum, don't cry. It's alright, I forgive you." she said in a soft voice. I cracked a smile and looked at my mum.

"I can't forgive just yet, but I can forget." She smiled at us both and I was dragged into a hug. Jessica put on a smirk, looking between us both before moving back to her seat, picking up her wine and staring at us.

"Do you two want a couple of drinks?"

----------------

For the next couple of hours, the family sat together, drinking and laughing. Within time, Trish began to forgive her mother for all she had done to her, and Dorothy followed through on her promise to be a better mother.

The end <3
