10 - Bias

Day 90

The moment Yoongi and I shared seemed to give both of us motivation to continue again.

Perhaps a reason to live for.

And thus, the following day we decided to continue our way towards Jeju Island. Hoseok, during the search for food yesterday, also scouted the area and he was certain that we were safe to continue.

It wasn't easy, the emptiness that Jin and Namjoon left behind was felt by everyone. I told myself that there was a chance that they were alive still, finding their way back to us. But the chances were so slim because if they were, they would have found us.

We waited for over five days in the house. It was the longest we had been in one house since we started our journey. 

Day 93

We took another moment to pause in a house again, it had been three days of walking and we all agreed it was time for another break. Plus, we crossed another bridge yesterday so we thought it would be safe to have a break here, pretty close to the water.

This night I had convinced Yoongi he should sleep in my room on an actual bed instead of in the living room on the couch or floor. To my surprise, I didn't have to go to great lengths to convince him.

I guess he, just like me, was exhausted.

It was nice because like this it was easier to cuddle closer to him. As I looked up I saw the corner of his lips slightly turned up. 

       'are you smiling?' I asked with a giggle.

He shook his head but this time his smile was very obvious. I sat up to see his face and the butterflies danced around my stomach as I spotted his little gummy smile.

     'y/n' he said a little bit embarrassed as I was looking at him and then he suddenly pulled me down on him again and he hugged me tightly. and in that embrace, we both drifted off into sleep. 

Day 94

The following morning I woke up with Yoongi back hugging me. I really would stay like this the entire day if I could, but soon I felt Yoongi's small movements and I knew he was also waking up. A minute later he already sat up and I closed my eyes again, acting as if I was still sleeping.

He leaned closer and kissed the side of my neck

      'I know you are awake y/n' he whispered against the spot he just placed a kiss on.

I slowly turned around 'you always know everything don't you?'

He shrugged 'very often yes'

I shook my head with a chuckle.

His face turned more serious 'I will make myself ready, I will address the group shortly, can you also come down?'

       'yeah sure' I answered, a bit alarmed as I had an idea about what he wanted to discuss.

We all gathered around for a meeting as Yoongi announced we needed to discuss something. 

We stood around the living room in a circle all facing Yoongi, in anticipation of what he wanted to say.

He cleared his throat.

'We need to do a scouting mission to see if the area is clear. As we are again in new surroundings.'

yoongi swallowed 'as we are now only I and Hoseok who have experience it would be good to have an additional member joining us, So we can quicken the process' Yoongi addressed Hueningkai's group.

      'I will join' I suggested without hesitation

       'no'

It was a very stern and clear answer from yoongi.

       'You can't be serious' I let out in indignation.

       'You will be a distraction' he explained with apologetic eyes.

        'I agree with Yoongi' Hoseok said and I turned my gaze at him, confused as I expected him to be on my side on this, 

      'I am happy you two are together, finally, but that means you have a bias towards each other and the last thing we need on such scoutings is someone clouding our judgement' while saying the last part he glanced at Hueningkai.

It was a clear message, it wasn't going to be me but neither was it going to be Hueningkai.

      'I will go' Soobin said while getting up. Even though Yeonjun was the oldest I often had the feeling that Soobin was the leader, as in taking decisions and planning the group.

       'alright, then that's settled. We will leave in 30 minutes, so get ready'

I was back in my room and sat on the bed. I was worried, I mean the scouting missions were always the most dangerous ones. It wasn't a coincidence that I and Hueningkais' group had never faced an Other, while my brother and his friends had. They only encountered them during those scouting moments. 

The door opened and Yoongi appeared, he walked towards me.

      'hey don't worry y/n' he said as he sweetly patted my head 'I have done this many times before' he added trying to reassure me more.

       'I know... just be extra careful okay?' I said

He pulled me up from to the bed and into a hug. I looked up and as he looked down I leaned closer to kiss his lips.

He hummed 'I'll definitely get back to get more of this' as we leaned back from our kiss.

I shook my head but with a smile 'lots more of that' I answered.

The whole time that they were away I was anxious. I mean before I was anxious every time as well, I never seemed to get used to it. It seemed to take longer than normal which worried me even more.

All of a sudden the door flew open and Hoseok and Soobin ran into the house.

I immediately understood that something was wrong. I got up from the couch 

      'Where is yoongi?' I asked worriedly

Hoseok was panting, probably from all the running

       'We ran into two of the others, I.. I didn't pay attention' Hoseok was talking rapidly and clearly in a lot of panic.

       'Yoongi protected me, but they were able to cut him. it's pretty bad'

      'Where is he?!' I asked urgently,

      'We were able to kill those two others so Yoongi said it was better if I ran back here and got the first aid kit.'

It was all so confusing to me but it was clear that Hoseok also wasn't in the best state to give me a calm and accurate report of what happened.

      'He was cut pretty badly, in his right leg, so he shouldn't walk too much to avoid blood loss, until we get bandage around the wound' Soobin explained, clearly more collected.

     'I am coming with you' I immediately said

Hoseok looked at me in doubt

      'You won't change my mind' I said before he could protest

      'Okay fine, let's go'
