The morning had been a very slow one and because of this reason, Lucille had woken all the children up earlier than usual on a first day back, expecting them all to be put off and slow as they readied themselves
Like always, Astrid and Hermione slept together, laying in bed after being woken to aggressive shakes by Lorenzo who somehow was always full of energy, no matter how early in the morning it was
They stayed under the covers, holding one another in utter silence until Ron and Harry crept into the room and collapsed onto the bed to join them in their wallowing—Harry prying both girls apart so he could lay in the middle and Ron at their feet
"So" sighed Harry "suppose that was really our last night together"
"Think we've been a bit dramatic" Astrid laughed lightly, though she felt as miserable as one could possibly be "it's just a year"
Hermione squeaked, pressing her palms into her eyes as she began to cry again
"Oh Mia!" Sighed Astrid, shoving Harry to offer the girl some comfort since he had placed himself between them
"Nope" he rolled out of the way and towards Ron
Astrid rolled her eyes, pulling Hermione to her side and rubbing her back as she cried into her friends shoulder, feeling as miserable as Astrid had been—of course she had Harry and Ron, but Astrid was her best girl friend and she needed her more than anyone, loved her more than the boys
For a year she would lose her only girl friendship
"You have Ginny" Astrid reminded
Hermione wiped her face clean and stared out at nothing as Astrid continued to hold her in her arms, Ron reaching forward to pat Hermione's leg "there there" said he "it'll be okay Mione"
