_____SISTER'S ADRENALINE KICKS IN
SHORTLY AFTER THE NICO CONVERSATION, both Arya and Percy climbed back into their beds. Arya waited, her eyes on the ceiling, hand behind head, until she was sure Percy was asleep. Then she got back up, and quietly sneaking out, knowing she wouldn't be able to get back to sleep.
She never knew exactly what she was going to do, rather, just let her feet carry her to wherever they wanted her to go. Tonight, it seemed in her heart that she wanted to walk the border of camp, somewhere far away from people.
Arya was enjoying being lost in her thought while taking her stroll in the nice evening breeze until her eyes caught something ahead of her that made her stop in her tracks. A giant Aethiopian Draconian seemed to have taken a note from Aryas book to go around the border, testing the invisible barrier for any weakness, attempting to get in and ambush them in the middle of the night.
Frozen in place, she watched it for a few minutes, tracking it to see if it would give up and fly away. But it seemed in no rush, and took it's time poking and flying to all different areas in order to try and find a way in.
The boarder was strong, especially since the Golden fleece got put up last year, the draconian was very unlikely to get in, but she wasn't completely confident in that statement seeing as Kronos possessed forms of magic Arya couldn't even fathom, and this monster was likely on his side.
Arya went to summon her spear only to realize that she hadn't felt the need to restrap on her gauntlets in the middle of the night so they were sitting back in the cabin, along with her belt which housed her daggers, and her armband which would have given her water. She was defenseless, for what was the first time that she could ever remember. She briefly thought that she could fight it hand to hand, but quickly scolded herself for even considering such a stupid idea. She couldn't take on this beast alone, she would need help. The question was who?
She ran through the list of campers she wanted to call, before figuring that ranged attackers were going to be the safest option since that meant no one would have to cross the border to fight it.
Once she knew who she had to go and wake up, slowly she took small steps backward until she was hidden in the treeline and well out of the monster's sight, before turning and running to Cabin 7, and knocking on the door.
To her surprise, it was Will Solace, a camper who Arya had brought to camp last year.
"Is it a nightmare?" He asked with a yawn, rubbing his eyes. But Arya took no time answering him before lightly pushing past him and to the head councilors bed. Shaking him awake.
"Lee." She whispered loudly. It didn't take him long to wake up.
"What in the world?" He asked groggily, sitting up.
"I was on a walk when I saw a Daconion testing the borders of camp. I need you and some of your siblings to help me take it down." Arya explained.
With a curt nod, suddenly very awake, he hopped out of bed and started waking up three of his other siblings. Explaining the situation and telling them to grab their bows.
"I'm gonna go run and grab a bow, I'll meet you at the far tree line." Arya told them, running out the door, until Micheal Yew called her out to stop her. She turned around to see a bow coming towards her quickly. She grabbed it out of the air.
"We have plenty of extras." He said as he followed Lee to the door and handed Arya a quiver full of arrows. She nodded back to him as a thanks and got to the front of the group leading them to the monster.
Arya was a decent shot, because she had been doing it her whole life, but she would never be anything compared to Apollo's kids who all seemed to pick up Archery like it's what they were born to do, and it was always amazing to watch. However as they fired on the Draconian, Arya found herself able to keep up with Lee call outs decently enough, and twenty arrows later, all lodged deep into the Draconians back, it fled, waving it's metaphorical white flag, and Arya and the Apollo kids celebrated with high fives and jumps of excitement. All of them complementing Arya on her skills.
