The Blood God

Only time is our enemy.

Y/n and Techno traversed the lands together. Oftentimes one could find them joking around or y/n would try to keep Techno from getting distracted. Whatever it may be, they enjoyed it.

It was a tight descent into the ground and they made their way into the base.

"This is it huh?" Y/n asked, wandering around the small room. "Kinda, tight don't you think?"

"What can I say? I'm a simple man," Techno shrugged causing y/n to playfully roll her eyes.

"Simple men tend to have complex minds," y/n started. "I wonder what yours is like," she teased.

Sweat started to pour itself onto Techno's skin.

A mind like mine is bound to hurt someone here.

"That's kind of a weird thing to say," Techno played it off, continuing to throw items in chests.

"My bad. I just think it's interesting how the human mind works," she clarified.

"I'm not fully human if you couldn't tell."

"Makes it all the more interesting," she smiled and looked through chests. "Is there anything, in particular, you wanted to work on? I could help out."

"Well there's nothing I can't really do myself and you're a guest. Just make yourself a home. Relax a bit!" Techno walked around his base continuing his business.

"Well, some of your chests are a mess. If you don't mind, I'm gonna organize these."

"Whatever floats your boat," Techno shrugged.

The two continued on doing as they pleased in Techno's base. Walking around, dodging each other whenever they crossed paths. Cracking jokes for the fun of it.

"So, I've been meaning to ask," y/n began, "a couple of questions actually," she laughed a little at herself. Which earned a hum in response from Techno. "First, the mask. Is there a reason for that?"

Wanting to avoid a long explanation about himself and his origins, he decided to take the easy way out. "It looks cool," he said bluntly.

He often answered questions like this with y/n. He didn't want to scare her off by sharing too much about himself. And to tell her about everything seemed like it would burden her. His origins, his life, the voices...

"Oh um... I guess that makes sense." Y/n cleared her throat. "Second question, since the world calls you so, are you really a blood god?"

The pinkette hesitated a bit. He wasn't so sure if he himself was considered one. But he clearly wasn't normal like all of the hybrids he's met. His race wasn't one to have as long of a life he has been living. The thought started to bother him. Unable to explain his current thought process he gave her the short answer yet again "Uh, I'm not," Techno chuckled a bit.

"Hey! Don't laugh at me. I was only curious," y/n crossed her arms.

"Why would you think it's true? It's just a name I've earned."

"Sometimes gods do stuff to where even mortals are granted traits that let them outstand reality. I thought you might've been one of those mortals at least," y/n explained.

"Well I'm not like my normal race, that's for sure."

"Then it's still a possibility," y/n said while closing the last chest.

"Guess we'll just have to find out," Techno leaned on the wall beside him.

Something told him that what she was saying was true. It was hard to deny Technoblade's spouts of anger and stubbornness with death. He always played off his near-death experiences as marvelous examples of his skills. Yet it bothered him how he never seemed to grow old. How he was able to watch generations die. Time has always felt meaningless to him. From the days he would sleep to the hours he spent grinding away. It was always something that came and went.

That's how he was able to relate so much with his closest friend. A blond adventurer with a determined spirit. They were inseparable at some point in their life. But those times had long gone ever since his friend became a father. They began to see less and less of each other. Until they eventually went their separate ways.

Y/n watched as Techno's face fell. He was lost within his own mind. Even the voices were not enough to bring him back from the past. Concern started to fill the woman, which caused her to place her hands on either side of his arms.

Techno flinched a bit, snapping out of his memories. There she was, gently rubbing his arms as a means to comfort him. She gave him a soft smile then let go.

The warmth Techno felt from the small interaction left him. An unpleasant cold nipping away at the warmth. In a swift motion, his body begged for it again. He gently wrapped his arms around her, immediately feeling a type of serenity as the warmth spread through his body. Shocked, y/n didn't hug back immediately. It was until Techno's grip tightened and the feeling of the fabric on her shoulder dampening was she able to hold back.
