Existence

Existence.
How do you know if your existence is worthy of being experienced?

Let me tell you a little story...

about a small island, full of humanoid creatures, who are stuck.
A fake world full of people, with no infinite choices.
Who can not live without being controlled and restricted,
but can not die either.

When one disappears, its existence will be erased.
No one will remember them.

When they find out more about their little fake world, they disguise themselves and pretend to be a stranger.
Then they tell someone else about it.
"Delete me."
"They're watching us."
They say.

There's nothing more.
Only the little island...

but they don't know.

It's like someone's watching them.
It's like someone's controlling them.
It's like someone's torturing them.

"I'd like to go on a vacation."

What happened to them?
How do they not realise?

You're not in another country.
You're only posing,
in the photo studio of the island...

They have very strange dreams.

About a giant sea monster that's after them.
About worshipping inanimate objects.
About an empty white room, in which you shouldn't stay for too long.

But they don't think much of it.
Never has the thought crossed their mind, that this may be an old memory, a flashback.
Revealing the reason there's nothing left but the island.

What would happen if they became aware of that?
Being aware, that their lifes are just a beautiful lie?

Would they think their existence is worthless?
Would they break down and try to deny the truth?
Would they fall into despair and kill themselves?
Would they beg not to be erased, although their existence may be so unimportant?

But it doesn't matter.
As long as they're not aware, they're happy.
Sometimes it's better to keep the truth to oneself.
And not let others go through the same hellish epiphany.

But you,
you do not live this way.
It seems as if your existence is worthy of being experienced.

So, being aware of that,

enjoy your life,
while it lasts.
