Grief was never something Midoriya dealt with often, sure his dad passed away, but he had never met him in the first place and he had his mother, someone who was more than enough for him. He didn't have any siblings or any friends who had terrible accidents that left them dead by a young age, he never thought of death because he was only 15 years old.

He was only 15 years old.

She was only 15 years old.

The funeral was massive, soldiers from the highest ranking, and royalty throughout the land came to pay their respects. It was grand. The organ played a sad tune, Midoriya didn't think she would have liked it. She preferred upbeat or relaxing music, something she could dance to.

They left her.

Midoriya begged them to stay, to try and revive here but his pleading was pointless. She was dead, so they had to leave the structure.

The trip back was horrible, a silence between the three was thick and filled with a pain indescribable, he had lost his love.

They sent back up to retrieve her body, the rest was a blur.

The reunion with his mother was filled with tears, first of relief but when she didn't see
(Y/n) Inko knew. She knew by the pain behind her sons eyes unmatched by anything she had seen before.

She was forced to prepare a funeral for a girl not much older than her son, and who she had viewed as a daughter.

Midoriya was told that she was in a better place, that she was with her family now. As much as he felt selfish for saying he wanted her here, so that they could build a new family together.

When the funeral was over and they were free to say their last goodbyes, he couldn't bring himself to keep sobs in. He didn't care who watched.

Momo and Kirishima mourned together, so did Uraraka and Iida. Todoroki was struck with sadness even though they weren't as close and Bakugou. Bakugou had shut off.

Someone he held respect for, who he could even consider a friend was gone and he didn't know how to deal with that. Faced with his own mortality, he mourned silently and in isolation.

Meis cries were heartbreaking, her best friend, the one who came to her after her family passed, and who she confided everything in was gone.

Letters addressed to Mei were found in the ruins of (Y/n)s room and we're given to her, they spoke of plans to stargaze, test out experiments, and play together we're mentioned along with treasured memories from their childhood. Like when they both got lost in the Forrest and ended up spending the night in the trees, it was one of the clearest sky's either of them had ever seen.

Midoriya went up to her coffin, it was a closed casket. Tears streaming down his red cheeks he told her he loved her.

He loved her so much, she was his first darling, his only princess, and the girl he wanted to spend his life with.

He couldn't.

Eventually people had to leave, after a week it was only him and his mother in the castle.

For three months it was like this, the air staying thick and tense. Not once did he come out of his room his eyes not puffy and red. He was quiet, he didn't go in the library anymore and he stopped his training entirely.

One day he went down stairs and was greeted by his mother as usual, he hugged her back, he loved his mom so very much and he made sure to tell her that every single day.

They sat down to eat breakfast when Inko spoke up.

"The Todorokis should be arriving in a few hours, the Bakugou by sunset, we're going to be having a meeting discussing the future"
