Chapter 19

39 ~~INT. Y/N'S APARTMENT-AFTERNOON~~ 39

Y/n is dialing the phone in Peter's apartment complex.

Harry is with her and is watching intently.

Y/n appears upset as the phone rings.

A girl, Ursula, picks up the phone.

URSULA
Hello?

Y/N
Hey Ursula. Is Peter there? I'd like to talk to him.

URSULA
Of course. I'll go get him.

Y/N
Thanks.

The other line is silent.

Y/n looks up at Harry who's still watching her.

Peter suddenly speaks.

PETER
Y/n?

Y/N
Hey, yeah. It's me.

PETER
Oh, I'm so glad to hear your voice. I was worried that you would never speak to me again.

Y/n goes to say something, but hesitates.

Harry gets up and gets in front of her face.

HARRY
If you don't do this, I'll kill him. Remember that.

Tears start streaming down y/n's face.

She wipes them away.

Y/N
Yeah, uh, can you meet me?

PETER
You bet.

Y/N
Like now. Right now.

PETER
Okay. Where?

Y/N
At the bridge in the park.

PETER
Alright. On my way.

Y/N
Okay.

PETER
Hey, I love you.

Y/n covers her mouth as she silently begins sobbing.

Harry grabs the phone from her and slams it down.

HARRY
Did you ever cry this much over me? I don't think so.

Y/n doesn't say anything and doesn't look at him.

HARRY
Quit your blubbering. We've got to meet Peter at the park, remember?

Y/n wipes the tears from her eyes and face.

She sniffles.

Y/N
I hate you.

HARRY
Now you know the pain I feel. Now get going.

Harry grabs y/n by the arm and forcefully pulls her along.

They exit the apartment.

40 ~~EXT. BRIDGE~~ 40

Harry and y/n are standing under a tree; the bridge not too far away.

Harry is putting a mic on y/n.

He then puts an earpiece in his ear.

HARRY
This is so you don't get any funny ideas and start spilling everything to your partner.

Y/n still appears upset.

HARRY
Alright. You're free to go.

Y/n gives Harry one last pained look before walking away.

She walks until she's standing in the middle of the bridge.

She looks around for Peter while also hoping that he doesn't show up.

She's staring in the distance when she hears footsteps approaching her.

She looks and sees Peter coming up to her, carrying flowers.

PETER
You look beautiful.

It takes everything in y/n's power not to break down right then and there.

Peter is now standing in front of y/n.

He gestures to the flowers.

PETER
Peonies.

Y/N
Yeah, they're nice. Thank you.

PETER
My pleasure.

He hands her the flowers and she slowly takes them.

Peter notices the glum look on her face.

PETER
You okay?

Y/n flinches at the question.

She doesn't reply at first.

Y/N
Uh...no. Not really.

Peter sighs.

PETER
Is it because of the other night? I'm really sorry for what happened. You didn't deserve that. You've always been there for me and I shot you down. You just cared about me, but I didn't want to listen.

Y/n is looking away from Peter.

He puts his hands on top of hers.

She turns her focus on him.

PETER
I promise that I will never let something like this happen again. I love you too much. I can't lose you.

Y/n stares into Peter's eyes.

She's very upset at this point.

She moves her hands away from Peter.

Y/N
I don't wanna see you anymore.

PETER
What?

Y/N
I can't do this. It's just...not working.

PETER
What do you mean? We can work this out.

Y/n starts crying.

Y/N
No, Peter. We can't. It's over.

PETER
No. Please. Please don't say that.

Peter appears very distressed and upset.

PETER
I love you. You loved me. You wanted to marry me.

Y/N   
Well, times have changed!

PETER
What? We can't just quit because we have problems. When people have problems...they work it out. They talk to each other.

Y/N
We are talking to each other and I'm saying it's over!

Peter is silent.

He starts to cry.

Y/n can't look at him.

Y/N
There's someone else.

Peter looks at her.

Y/N
I've fallen in love with someone else.

Peter doesn't respond.

Y/N
I'm sorry.

Y/n then begins briskly walking away.

Peter watches her go, tears welling up in his eyes.

Y/n is now walking past Harry.

HARRY
Bravo.

Y/n doesn't look at him and keeps walking.
