As the final credits to Tangled played, I took a sip of my lemonade and squeezed my eyes shut. I knew my friends wanted to watch a couple movies that night, but the ones I had brought didn't have Japanese subtitles. Not only was I signing the translation to the deaf boy beside me, but I was also illusing all the lines in Japanese. To be honest, being a translator was far too much work for my brain that night.

Nevertheless, I had fun. I wasn't going to say I enjoyed the headache that came with overusing my quirk. Oh well, we can call it "practice."

I wasn't expecting to meet someone who was deaf at this school, and yet, there he was. He seemed relieved to meet someone who could use sign language. Earlier in the night, we had both lamented the inconvenience of using a whiteboard all the time. I couldn't imagine not having my quirk to make communication easier. Aside from him or Reina, I would have to rely solely on writing everything down.

"Rocket," he had signed his nickname. I remember the way he hesitated. I was used to being judged at this point, but not in the way he looked at me. His eyes had searched me with trepidation, like I was a wild animal he had yet to figure out. I made sure to put on the brightest smile I could despite the numbness seeping into me from the blizzard outside.

The more we got to know each other, the more he seemed to open up. He gladly told me about the crazy happenings of Class 1-H and what it was like to be in the other courses at UA. I almost didn't go the hero path, so who knows? In some other life, I could have been in the support department with him and Rose.

The end of the movie prompted multiple people to stand and peruse the snack table. I chose to stay sitting where I was on the large couch, Akiba to my left and Rocket on my right.
It was a seating arrangement orchestrated by Sakura. Of course, she had dragged my crush on Akiba out of me one day after hero training. She made it her personal mission to set people up. Like how she made sure Kaito and Vivi sat next to each other. And Kita and Mori. I never even would've thought to put them together. I swear, that girl didn't miss a thing.

As with the rest of my friends, Akiba and I met at the beginning of the year. The teachers of Classes 1-A and 1-B thought it would be beneficial for the classes to train together, so we had become quite close over the past nine months or so. Not only did the classes train together, but we also studied, ate, and hung out all the time with each other.

It was hard to remember exactly when my crush on the boy started. We were frequently paired up in training since our quirks both operated best at a distance, but we were also a part of the same friend group at school. I guess it was just easy to develop feelings when we were always around each other and we'd been able to get to know each other.

I think what I admired most is that he'd been patient with me and my disability. Granted, the whole group had been understanding, but it just seemed he got me better than they did. Like when I taught them all basic signs, he seemed to pick it up the fastest, not to mention he always made sure I was included in the conversation when I wanted to add something and struggled getting everyone's attention. He may have been distant, but he was a real gentleman when he wanted to be.
I was about to pull out my whiteboard to ask what he thought of the movie when he hastily stood, following our other friends to the snack table. I tried not to pout, instead turning to my new friend.
