The sun was slowly coming up, the seagulls chirping to wake anyone that was by, signaling that it was morning time. The clouds were slowly forming as morning time was coming to the planet as hours had gone by. The waves had calmed down, showing the storm had passed by the island. A single boat could be seen as it was flipped over on the water, two figures unconscious on either sides.

It was the Phantom.

Both John B and Y/n were on either sides of the flipped boat, both unconscious. Adding to the soft sounds of the waves, the brunette let out a cough as his brown flutter open. Almost immediately, his girlfriend's name went past his lips as she was the first thought that came to his brain even though he had just woken up. More coughs escaped past his lips before he called out for the Maybank girl again, but he wasn't getting any response.

A lifejacket laid around his torso as he and Y/n had been able to put them on a little after the boat was flipped and they had managed to get out from beneath it. As he continued to not get a response, relief filled him when he heard a wheezed type of cough on the other side of the upside down boat. Without thinking, he let go of the rope he had been holding, making sure to keep close to the boat as he made it to the other side, seeing his girlfriend there.

The girl's long h/c hair was all wet just like his, her clothes soaked as they stuck to her body. Like him, Y/n wore a lifejacket on her torso as she held tightly to the rope on the bottom of the Phantom. As John B got closer to her, he took notice of the skinny but slightly large gash on her head, a bit of blood oozing out of it. When the boat had flipped over during the storm, Y/n had banged her head rather hard against the boat when they were underwater.

The girl's eyes were fluttering open more, a few more coughs escaping her as John B made his way closer and closer to the love of his life. Eventually, he wrapped his arms around her waist, pulling her close but also making sure to continue treading the water as Y/n used one of her hands to hold onto the rope while the other one was around his shoulders, also keeping him close to her.

"You're hurt." John B observes in concern.

The boy carefully brings a hand up, softly touching her cut with the pad of his thumb, getting a bit of blood on it as she winced. The two were just grateful that the gash wasn't too deep to have the red liquid dripping down her face, the injury only being enough for small amounts of blood to ooze it's way out of the cut. John B also took notice of the few bruises that were forming, adding to the ones she still slightly had from her father days before.

"It's okay, I'm fine." Y/n assures, shaking her head.

The Routledge boy only stares at her in concern but she shakes her head again, to which he wraps his arms around her. The couple didn't know how long they were waiting, but it had to at least be a few minutes or so. As time passed, Y/n thought of her brother and their friends. Were they okay? Did the police take them in for questioning? Had they gotten home safely before the storm had fully hit the island?

Snapping the girl out of her thoughts, the Maybank e/c eyed girl glanced around, eyes soon landing on a boat that was far from them but not too far that the people on the boat couldn't see them. Her eyes widen, relief filling her body at the sight of possible help if they'd see her and John B. Frantically tapping the said boy's shoulder, the girl points out at the boat in the distance, John B following her gaze.

"It's a boat." Y/n points out.

Almost immediately, the teenagers began shouting and calling out for the people that were on the boat, raising up their hands for a better chance of the people seeing them in the water. John B started splashing the water in hopes of getting their attention, screaming the word 'help' at the top of his lungs. Meanwhile, Y/n had turned back around to face the boat, digging into John B's backpack that he had brought up with him when the boat flipped.

While the Routledge boy's deep voice continued screaming loudly, Y/n dug into his bag and grabbed the gold he had shoved in when they were at the Chateau before getting away from Shoupe and Deputy Thomas. Taking her hand off the boat and swimming forward just a bit, she thrusted her arm up, getting the gold to shine from the sun as she hoped that would get their attention, all while her and John B continued screaming at the top of their lungs, not caring if their throats began to hurt and if they needed air.

After a few seconds, the girl lowered her arm, gripping the gold in her hand as she had given up, John B also doing the same thing. Breathing heavily, the couple turned to each other, John B instantly wrapping his one arm around her, feeling her hug back as he muttered 'I'm sorry' to her many times against her neck, even pressing a soft kiss to the skin of her neck. He felt completely guilty. He was the one who had gotten into her and their friends into this mess in the first place.

What caught Y/n's attention was the loud horn blaring from far away as she looked at the boat, seeing a bright shine at the boat as it shined against the sun just like she had done with the gold a few seconds ago. Hoped fill her as a smile began to tug onto her lips, pointing at the boat while tapping her boyfriend's shoulder.

"They see us!" Y/n exclaims, voice full of relief and hope.

"Here! We're over here!" John B shouts.

Smiles of relief tugged onto their lips once they saw the boat slowly beginning to turn in their direction while Y/n rose her hand again, getting the gold to shine against the sun. The horn of the boat blared again as they began making their way to the couple, making them sigh in relief. With a big smile, John B looks to his girlfriend, placing a hand on her cheek that was furthest from him, bringing her forward and pressing a kiss to her cheek, being sure to be careful of the gash on her forehead.

Soon enough, after a few minutes, the boat had gotten much closer, only a few feet away and the couple had swam the rest of the way as it was a short swim for them. Two men stood inside as they helped Y/n up first, then John B before they were placing towels over the teenagers shoulders, both of them shivering after getting out of the water. One of the men led them up some stairs and inside of the boat where quiet music was playing from a radio. The man let Y/n take a seat on the only chair in the room as another man came over, giving the teenagers two mugs of coffee after being instructed to.

"Anybody I can call, let them know that you're okay?" The man asks, glancing to Y/n and the gash on her forehead. "You should get that bandaged up."

Y/n only nods, shivering still. "Yeah."

"And we don't really have anybody to call." John B admits.

The man hums. "You just made my day a whole lot more interesting. So, where in the hell was y'all trying to go?"

"Um... Could you just drop us off at the next port?" Y/n questions, avoiding his question. "It doesn't matter where."

Still shivering himself, John B stepped to the girl, holding the mug he had been given in one hand and wrapping his other arm around the girl's figure, blanket still covering his hand and arm as he rubbed up and down her back in hopes of giving her warmth.

The man couldn't help but smile at the sight. "I was young and in love once. Turned into a goddamn disaster. It was fun while it lasted, though."

"Where'd you say you were going again?" John B asks.

"Nassau." The man replies as he walks to the back of the room.

"The Bahamas." Y/n whispers in conclusion, glancing up at him.

"The gold." John B adds quietly.

The girl nods before leaning her head against his chest, still shivering. The brunette rests his chin against the top of her head, placing a kiss on her head as a smile tugged onto his lips at the thought, glad him and the love of his life were alright.
