3rd Person POV

September 20th, 1938

"We have 30 minutes before the asteroid hits!"

"I hear ya just give me a moment"

A massive team of scientist and engineers were working hard on starting the machine named 'Voyager' that could travel to different worlds in different universes and would take the entire continental US but not take the territories of Hawaii, Alaska, and others with it, this type of technology wasn't expected to be thought about for centuries, but they managed to create one in 1938.

Just a few days before the world learned they were all in grave danger when they learned that a 500-mile-wide asteroid was hurdling towards earth and will destroy the entire world. The United States was the only country to possess such an advanced machine, was the main global headline, many world leaders requested that the US government allow themselves to be let inside the US so they can survive but with a single country with several world leaders going to a world that isn't theirs was a bad idea so the government declined but would allow a maximum of 100 million civilians from around the world in.

Countries from around the world also shipped the US countless and endless supplies and important artifacts from around the world like artwork, artifacts, documents, blueprints, you name it.

As of now the asteroid was 20 minutes out now, the people of the US and the refuges all came together and prayed that the machine will work. Amongst the panicked population in the farmland of Kansas a boy only 16 soon to be 17 hugged his mother tight as they waited for the either the asteroid or the machine saving them all and sending them to an unknown place. The boy's name was William, he was Caucasian, brown short hair, and green eyes. "It's alright mother, don't cry" he assured his crying mother, "I'm sure the machine will work, I'm sure of it" William continued comforting his mother.

Elsewhere in the very center of the United States the team of scientist glance at their watches nervously as time passes and the machine still hasn't been turned on, glancing up they could see the bright shining object that was the planet killing asteroid.

"Wait... I did it... I DID IT!"

An engineer working on the machine shouted in excitement as the machine whirred to life and emitted a bright blue light, "Go, go, go, activate it!" a scientist shouted and with a press of a button the machine fired a blue beam high up into the sky which people in the nearby area looked at with awe. The beam reached high into Troposphere where it halted and spread out a blanket of electricity across the United States until the blanket fell and created a dome around the US.

People everywhere from New York to Los Angeles looked at the scene unfolding before them with shock and awe. Back at the machine it shook and screeched louder and louder by the second, then with a massive flash that blinded everyone, and massive tremor shook the ground. Every person felt pressure on their bodies then became weightless for a moment and after that another bright flash and then nothing.

The people finally opened their eyes and took the scene before them it was the exact same as it was before the bright flash but that feeling was for those inside, those outside noticed the air felt pure and fresh. William and his mother walked out of their farmhouse together were hit by this pure fresh air, "Did it work?" his mother asked nervously, William looked up towards the sky and didn't spot the bright asteroid, "Well there's no asteroid, it worked" he informed his mother and the two of them hugged and laughed together relieved.

Meanwhile back at the center of the US the team of scientist looked at the machine and weren't entirely surprised to see Voyager glowing red hot, melting in some places, and burned from the inside out. "Shit well there goes years of hard work" one scientist spoke, "Well at least be thankful were alive" another said directly to the first.

Now the US was in a whole new world with lands beyond their borders just waiting to be discovered and possibly civilizations to be found.
