Forty seven

Pat's POV

Today is my Dad's birthday, normally nag o-out of the country kami pero postponed muna since ang dami nilang booked na meeting this month. They said na we'll be having dinner na lang sa favorite restaurant ni Dad. I'm actually glad since It's been a while since we last ate together.

When we arrived at the restaurant the receptionist asked Dad's reservation details.

"Lasaten, good for 8" Eight? Bakit eight? May pupunta pang iba? I was so curious since I thought kaming tatlo lang so I asked Mom

"Sino pa pupunta, ma?"
"Your Dad's friends and may need ata silang i-discuss prior to his new business kaya sinabay na today." Hanggang birthday ba naman ganito pa rin set up? I just want a normal dinner with my parents, is that really too much to ask for?

"Hon, Ano balita dun sa project ni Mr. Contreras?" Oh wow nice, way to go Dad. Business talk as usual. 

They were talking about work stuff while I'm scrolling through my phone since I really don't give a damn about what they're discussing. Anong bago? parang wala lang naman ako dito.  While casually using my phone, the waiter informed us that my Dad's guests are about to enter the restaurant so I put my phone down to greet them.

My eyes widened when I saw Mr. Evangelista, our school's President walking towards our table.

"Mr. Lasaten, Happy birthday" he shook my father's hands and also my mother's.
"Ano ka ba, Jessie na lang" Mr. Evangelista saw me and I said hi. He then said that he's with his daughter who's just know walking towards us from the restroom.

"Patricia, what a nice surprise!" tapos bineso nya ako. Luh kala mo close??
"Hi, Sandra." I smiled lightly. She exchanged greetings from my parents as well before taking their seats.

The waiter asked my Dad if we are ready to place our orders but he said no since may hinihintay pa raw na dalawa. After a while dumating din sila, and when I thought eating with Sandra will be the worst thing tonight, I have been proven wrong.

"Tito Jess, Happy happy birthday po!" Dave Walker is also invited to my Dad's birthday dinner. I know it's been months pero hindi manlang ba nila ako sinabihan bago sila i-invite? Nakakainis parang walang nangyare ah.

"Makakapatay ka sa tingin mo" bulong ni Sandra sakin. "Warfreak ka ba?"
"Wag mo ako simulan ha hindi ako natutuwa"

After maupo nila Dave, Dad placed our orders para mai-ready na rin yung food. While waiting bigla ako kinamusta ng daddy ni Dave

"Pat, Iha ngayon na lang kita ulit nakita ah" I respectfully smiled. "Ilang months na ba kayong break ni Dave?" Nabigla naman ako sa tanong. Ngayon lang ata to mapapag usapan na kasama both parents namin.

"Dad." Dave tried to stop his Dad. "I think Pat's not yet comfortable talking about that." Nakakainis, hanggang ngayon ganiyan pa rin sya kabait.
"Oh I see, I'm sorry iha"
"Pero ilang years kayo naging mag jowa ulit?" My mom asked Dave.
"Uhm.. I think we officially dated po siguro summer before 2nd year high school"
"Kailan kayo nag break?" Biglang nag tanong si Sandra. "Ay I'm Sandra pala, I go to school with her"
"Hello, I'm Dave." Nag shake hands sila. "We broke up a month before junior year ends"
"A long term" bulong ni Sandra sakin. Hindi ko alam kung nang aasar ba to o ano eh
"Dave matanong nga kita, may girlfriend ka na bang bago?" tinanong sya ni Dad. Alam ko na saan papunta to
"Wala pa po" he chuckled lightly.
"Eh Sandra si Pat ba merong bago sa school nyo?" Hindi ko alam pero kinabahan ako sa isasagot ni Sandra

"I think si Agnes po"

Tangina naman Sandra.

Nakita ko sa mukha nila yung confusion sa sagot ni Sandra

"Ah si Agnes, she's a good student" salita ni Mr. Evangelista. "Ay wait, babae yun ah?"

"Ah eh.." naninikip na dibdib ko jusko "ha? Paano ko magiging jowa eh babae yun" I laughed it off. "Eto si Sandra ang galing mag joke, friend ko lang po yun." Tumawa naman silang lahat.

"Woah friend?" bulong ni Sandra sakin. Tinignan ko sya and she's smirking and slowly shaking his head. "Checkmate."
