He was making his way downstairs from their apartment when his phone buzzed with the promise of a new text message from Leia.

He was on his way to soccer practice that day, and was dressed in uniform and wore spikes. He loved his shoes; he always felt so sure on his feet whenever he wore them.

But his shoes didn't help him when he opened the new message and promptly tripped in surprise.

That is the story of how Calum fell down two flights of stairs.

To make matters worse, Luke was at the foot of the staircase, on his way up to their apartment. "Holy shit, Calum, you alright?" he asked, helping the other boy get on his feet. Luckily nothing was broken, but Calum felt like his whole body had been punched by babies.

He was more worried about his phone though; he just knew his mom wouldn't give in to buying him a new one because he broke it. But all was well in the matters of his phone's exterior: slightly scratched, but barely noticeable. Calum sighed in relief and felt a twinge of pain in his ribcage.

Luke's concern was replaced with amusement when he saw Calum was fine. "You know I'm going to tell this to everyone about a billion times, right?" He laughed, flashing his dimples. "What the hell happened to you?"

"This fucking happened to me," he practically screamed, shoving his phone into Luke's face.

i got a nose piercing :~)

And attached to it was a picture of Leia.

Even Luke's jaw dropped in surprise. "Holy fuck."

Calum was shaking because of the fact that Leia was gorgeous. Dark brown eyes with insanely long eyelashes and a cute little nose and pale skin (Mikey's was paler, but still). She was smiling with her tongue between her teeth (just like Luke does, Calum noticed bitterly) and her hair was an elegant waterfall cascading down her shoulders and she wasn't wearing any makeup and she had a glittering diamond pierced on the side of her nose and holy motherfucking hell-

Leia was beautiful.

"Wow," Luke whispered. "The mythical Leia, finally exposed."

Calum couldn't even string together words to describe what he was feeling right now. He was pretty sure his heart was beating faster than normal and his palms were sweaty and his throat went dry and a single line of oh my god oh my god oh my god was running through his mind. "I...I need to...what...oh my god..."

Luke frowned. "Did you get a concussion?"

Calum shook his head but began to feel dizzy (whoa, what if he did have a concussion?). He mumbled a weak goodbye to Luke, seeing as he was now late for soccer practice. Luke bid him goodbye and told him to be careful. Calum nodded, still dazed.

Finally there was a face to the girl named Leia. Calum already knew he liked her, and the fact that she was beautiful didn't hurt at all. He had fallen-literally-for her.

He was distracted all day. He couldn't even think of anything else other than her smile, however gooey that may sound. He grinned manically all day long.

"Get your head in the game, Hood!" one of his teammates, Von, shouted after the ball rolled past Calum and he completely ignored it.

"Sorry, mate," Calum apologized. "Having an off day." He went to sit down on the bleachers to rest and pulled his phone out of his bag to make sure he didn't hallucinate the whole thing.

Calum grinned for what seemed like the thousandth time that afternoon alone; his cheeks were starting to hurt. But he didn't care.
