so the other day there was a customer at work who tripped and i was worried he hit his head but he turned out fine

and today i met him again

Calum couldn't believe his eyes.

He'd always been curious about the stories Leia told, and how much of it was opinionated. He'd always enjoyed the subject of her stories, since they were always interesting, to some degree. But never in a million years did he think that one day, she'd write about him. Even when he met her that day, the thought never occurred to him.

So did I, Calum thought. His heart was beating really fast. Was she going to mention something terrible? Something she didn't like? Or something good?

In an odd, girly kind of way, he blushed in the darkness. She thinks he's cute. And this isn't even the first time she said that. It was a relief to know she wasn't completely weirded out by him, despite their first encounter.

Calum smirked. He should've flirted back. Why didn't he flirt back?

Wow. He didn't. Looking back, he didn't know how he couldn't notice her staring; he was practically staring at her the whole time. But maybe that was the reason why. He was too caught up with her to see her beginning to get caught up with him.

He liked that fact very, very much.

Instead of feeling proud, though, Calum suddenly felt sick. This was all kinds of wrong-like eavesdropping on the girl's locker, or reading through a girl's texts, which, technically, was the case. He was getting a firsthand look at a girl's feelings, which wasn't right. Guys weren't supposed to know what went on a girl's head. But because of this he did, and it felt wrong for him to read about what Leia feels about him. It felt like cheating. How ironic, Calum thought to himself. He'd go on lying but he felt conscious about cheating? This was all kinds of fucked up.

What did 'that kind of crowd' mean? The loser kind? Did she think he ran with a gang or something? The thought made him laugh. Him? In a gang? He couldn't even tie his shoelaces properly.

He wasn't sure how to feel about 'softie'. He definitely liked 'badass' more than 'softie.'

Huh. I guess I rubbed off the wrong impression on her. Somehow she's gotten the idea that Calum was a local rebel.

i feel like hes kinda my first real friend

First real friend. That was the most beautiful thing to Calum. To be considered her first real friend when he wanted nothing more than to be her best friend, maybe more.

Don't worry, Leia, he thought as he put his phone down and closed his eyes. He knew he'd see her again.
