Chapter 14

I wake up before Bucky and instantly head downstairs to try figure out a nice recipe for me to make when my phone rings, I answer the face time call and see Natasha, Wanda, Steve and Peter crowded around "we miss you" Wanda says "I've been gone two days" I say with a laugh "still" Wanda replies "how's the compound?" I ask "boring without the crazy girl around" Peter jokes and I give him a smile "well I miss having a kid crawling on the ceiling, how's school kid? And Mj?" I ask "I have a plan" Peter says "a plan? Just ask her out, there is no way she'll say no" I say "we'll just in case, I have a plan and I will tell you about it when you get home" Peter says clearly excited "Peter Happy is here to give you a ride" Tony calls from off screen "bye Angie" Peter says before leaving "bye" I reply "so how's the mission?" Steve asks "I have an idea of who the people are, Bucky assumes I'm wrong" I say "I never said that" Bucky replies, I look up from the phone to see a shirtless Bucky

"Staring isn't polite" Bucky replies and I roll my eyes "get over yourself" I say throwing an apple at him "still cocky I see" Steve says "you have no idea" I say with a laugh "how are things Steve?" I ask and he smiles "like Peter said, it's boring around here without you and Bucky" Steve says "we will be back in no time" Bucky says approaching me, he rests his arm over my shoulder and bends down to get closer to the phone "have any missions?" I ask "Clint and I are going off to London, some suspicious behaviour or whatever" Natasha says and I nod "well we gotta get going, we are having lunch guests and I don't know how to cook" I say and they laugh at me "bye guys" I say "bye" they say back and Bucky just waves as they hang up "you are looking so good with these little pyjamas that you wear" Bucky says kissing my bare shoulder "Bucky" I whisper, he spins me around and kisses me

I can't get myself to pull away not even when he picks me up and sets me on the counter *knock knock* we pull away and I stare at him breathless for a few seconds, Bucky walks around the counter and over to the door where he opens "Hi, I know I'm a little early but I thought I could help out with lunch?" Rosita says "oh, I wish I knew you were coming so soon, we aren't even dressed" Bucky says, I hop off the counter and walk over to them "hey" I say clearing my throat "the newly wed flame is like no other huh" Rosita says walking in and I give her a little laugh "hard to keep away" I say, Bucky gives her a smile before heading up to get more presentable. Rositas constant staring is driving me crazy "great body" Rosita says and I laugh slightly uncomfortable "yes yes it is" I agree, we walk to the kitchen and I open the fridge before taking out a chicken, some lettuce and some cucumbers

"What were you planning to make?" Rosita asks "a roasted chicken with some roasted potatoes and salad" I say looking through the cabinets for seasonings "sounds great" Rosita says and I nod "so what made you move to this specific neighbourhood?" Rosita asks "Well, Joey and I are trying to have a baby and we thought that this neighbourhood felt the safest to build a family" I say innocently, Rositas smile fades for a split second as she clears her throat "her smile disappeared, did you see that?" Venom asks "you're trying?" She asks and I nod "do you have kids?" I ask and she shakes her head "never been in my plans or Bennys, we've had other things in mind" she replies "must've been very important to you both then, anything I should be worried about?" I joke and her smile fades once again "again look, it's gone" Venom points out "of course not" she replies seriously "I'm just kidding, you two are amazing people and I am glad to be making friends in the neighbourhood. Joey was never one to be too social" I say

"Does it have anything to do with his arm?" Rosita whispers and I look over at her "yes I guess so, not everyone is considerate of what happened" I say, Bucky walks down just as we finalise the recipe and put the chicken and potatoes in the oven "well I'm going to go get ready, I will see you two in 2 hours" Rosita says and leaves, we wait a few seconds "her smile faded when I told her we were trying" I say "why would it? She works for Hydra, they are super manipulative people" Bucky argues "I don't think she's with Hydra, I think they were pulled into it by Dr Frey. He has always been very very compelling, I don't think they understand what they got into Buck" I say "do you think he saw her? Is that why he kissed?" Venom asks, realisation hits me "I hope it wasn't, I like him" Venom says happily "is that why you kissed me earlier?" I ask completely changing the subject "what?" Bucky asks

I walk away and he follows close behind "I hung up with phone, you kissed me, put me on the counter and then she knocked. Is that why you kissed me?" I ask, Bucky stares at me as I open my suitcase not taking my eyes off him "Y-yeah" Bucky says "he's lying" Venom says "is it?" I ask "why else would I kiss you? It's not like we're doing anything anymore remember?" Bucky asks and walks away "there it is again, the temper" Venom growls, I roll my eyes and continue to find myself some jeans and a tank top to wear "don't look too much into it V" I say slightly disappointed "I feel what you feel Angel, I know how you're feeling" Venom says and I shake my head "there's no point V, he's got this shitty wall up and it's not going to change for me or anybody else" I say with a shrug, I get changed and walk back downstairs to set up the table which Bucky had already done

"Are you upset with me?"

"No"

"You seem upset"

"Buck, don't push it"

"Okay"

We sit in silence until there's a knock on the door, I walk over and put a fake smile on before opening the door "hey" I say happily while allowing them to come inside "it smells amazing" Benny says "well Rosita helped" I reply while closing the door, we all join Bucky at the dinner table. Benny instantly takes notice of his arm, I sit next to Bucky and hold his metal hand for comfort which he instantly notices "Rosita mentioned you were trying to have children?" Benny asks and I nod as we begin to serve ourselves "well we are trying, it's why we moved here but unfortunately we haven't had any luck" Bucky replies and I nod "how did you too meet?" Benny asks "she was actually hooking up with my best friend" Bucky says and my eyes widen, Rosita and Benny look at us in shock "and coincidentally enough he was screwing my sister" I say with a fake smile

"You um swapped?" Rosita asks awkwardly "funny story actually, he got drunk and came onto me. In my defence my sister is very secretive I didn't even know he existed" I reply "and your best friend was nice to me first so" I say "you slept with him for nice?" Bucky asks and I choke on my drink "you got my sisters pregnant and then married me for what exactly?" I joke "oohhhh" Venom yells in my head, Bucky and I attempt to hide our laughter "are you guys joking?" Benny asks "I wish" Bucky and I reply in unison "it's not awkward" I say with a shrug "except for Christmas" Bucky says and I nod "well" Rosita says and I smile "how did you two meet?" I ask "we were protesting against animal cruelty? He had the loudest megaphone and I have the loudest group, it was love at first sight" Rosita says lovingly while grabbing onto her husband hand and he smiles back at her with the same sparkle in his eyes

"Sounds amazing" I say and she nods "if it's not impolite, may I ask you about your arm?" Benny asks, Bucky glances at me for a second "Joey used to be a soldier, they were in Afghanistan" I begin to say "my camp was attacked. Next thing I know I woke up  with this" Bucky says quickly letting go of my hand to show his own before grabbing mine once again "Gracey was the only person who looked at me beyond my arm, she never judged or looked at it weirdly. It was as if I had both arms again" Bucky says truthfully "because there is absolutely nothing to be ashamed of" I say smiling "thank you for lunch" Rosita says "how about we host dinner Thursday night, we would host it tomorrow but we have plans" Benny says and Rosita nods happily "we would love it" I say smiling back at them, we guide them to the door and say goodbye

"You had to play the Steve card huh" I say "yes I did" Bucky says and I laugh while rolling my eyes "is he going to kiss us again?" Venom asks, Bucky is staring at me with a smile on his face "What?" I ask "You just look beautiful" Bucky replies and I can feel my cheeks beginning to heat up "There's no need to get shy Doll" Bucky says tucking a strand of hair behind my ear "I'm not shy" I reply and he use stares into my eyes "How about a swim?" Bucky asks and my smile instantly gets wider
