I flew down the slide, laughing on the way. I felt the air rushing past me as I slid down. The colors of the slide passed me so quickly they merged into one. I swerved around the sharp turn and felt weightless as I got launched into the air, crashing into the ball pit below me. I giggled at the feeling of being a kid again. Wow, I haven't felt a moment of safety like that in a while. I mean my childhood was never the best, so when I get to do stuff like this, I feel like I get to live a childhood – even if it's only for a moment.

I lay in the ball pit, still giggling from all the excitement. I looked around and now I really felt like a kid in a candy store. The walls were painted a light blue to represent the sky, and the floor has a square pattern with lots of colors. The whole place felt so comforting, like something from a childhood dream. I was still trying to take in the place when I heard someone.

"HO HO HO," The animatronic screamed with glee.

I look up to see a fairy tale-like tower, the kind a princess would be trapped in when the knight slayed the dragon. The tower sat high up, maybe 20ft from the ball pit. Before I could get a good look at the animatronic, it jumped off the tower. I gasped as it crashed into the ballpit below. I swam my way over to see if the animatronic was okay, when I felt a pair of hands grab me.

"HELLLLLLOOOOOO NEW FRIEND! YOU LOOK A LITTLE OLD TO BE IN HERE. OH, WELL THAT DOESN'T MATTER I HAVE A NEW FRIEND TO PLAY WITH!"

"Hi, I-I'm your assistant, I'm here f-for training," I replied. God why do I have to stutter so fucking much.

"YIPPIE! I NEVER HAD AN ASSISTANT BEFORE!" He squealed before placing me down.

Now that I was down on the ground again, I could finally get a good look at him. Man, he was tall. He's probably 6'3 and had a wide grin while wearing an outfit that was similar to both my uniform and a jester outfit. He looked down at me before continuing to talk.

"So new friend, I'm Sun, but you can call me Sunny, Sundrop, Sunrise... really anything you can think of!" He said before swaying side to side like those air dudes you see at the car dealerships, "What's your name, new friend?"

"I-I'm y-y/n" you croaked.

"Oh, new friend, are you nervous? Don't worry, you're gonna be AMAZING!"

"T-thank you. I'm sorry, I have a stuttering problem." you replied

He stopped his methodical swaying to get a good look at me. Even though I just met this guy, I could really see when his mood changes. "There's no reason to be sorry about that, sunshine." he continued, "but don't worry y/n, there are only two rules no swearing during hours, and keep the light on" The way he said on felt so...different, it just sent shivers down my spine.

My mind was still racing from everything going on. 'He called me sunshine. I haven't been called that since- no I can't think of that.' I did my best to shove away the thoughts and change the topic.

"Okay, so what do we have to do first for training?" I inquired. I'm glad there weren't a bunch of rules to get adjusted, but the swearing one was going to be annoying, even if it was only for work hours.

He put a finger to his chin and started tapping his foot. "Darn, I wish I was told about this so I could figure out how to spend the day with my new friend." The way he behaved, it was like a cartoon character – filled with energy, optimistic, and very expressive. It was honestly adorable. He gasped and I'm surprised a light bulb didn't come floating from his head. "I know! We can do Arts and Crafts. Do ya like arts and crafts? DO YA? DO YA!!??"

"I LOVE ARTS AND CRAFTS!!!" I said, trying to match his energy. This only made him more excited as he grabbed my hand and ran over to the arts and crafts table. The table was a soft yellow with orange padding on the edges. It's nice that they have padding on the edges so a kid doesn't crack their head open– I remember that happening to me as a kid and that was NOT pretty. The stools were made of the same padding material that was on the table and alternated in a pattern of orange and yellow.

I sat at the table while he grabbed art supplies from the closet. It was really cute to see him grabbing all the art supplies he could fit into his hands. He walked out with enough art supplies for 8 people, and I couldn't stop laughing at him trying to keep all of the supplies from falling. I walked over and started taking some of the supplies from him and organizing them on the table.

"Thanks sunshine." He said as he started putting the rest of the supplies on the table. I could feel my face turn a 100 shades of red. God it was so weird being called sunshine again, but it didn't make me upset, I felt glad to be called sunshine again. He must've seen me blush because he replied soon after, "is it okay if I call you sunshine?"

"Yep! I love the nickname"

"Well, it suits you beautifully, sunshine." he replied as he finished organizing the arts and crafts supplies.

Sun was coloring his own piece as I worked on my sketch. I lightly sketched out a sunflower, and it was coming out really good so far. I grabbed some yellow and orange colored pencils and started shading the petals. For working with a bunch of trashed crayola pencils, I felt the petals came out really well. I continued to shade the rest of the flower, and when I felt proud of it, I colored blue for the background. I was really proud of how it turned out. I don't know if he's ever seen a sunflower before, so he would be really interested in it. I wrote a little note on the top of the page. 'To my best friend from y/n' I look up to see him finishing his drawing as he holds it and shouts "TADA" declaring the piece is finished.

"Did ya finish too, sunshine?"

"Yep! Can I see your drawing?"

"Sure thing sunshine!" he said, handing me his paper. He drew us playing in the daycare, and it was really good. I guess I wasn't expecting anything amazing since he only works with children, but he is seriously an arts and crafts pro.

I couldn't help but smile at it. It was really good, and I've never had anyone draw me before. I started to hand it back to him when he stopped me, "Don't be silly sunshine, it's yours!" he said tossing his hands up in the air. "What did you draw?"

I slowly handed it over to him and he was totally silent. I couldn't tell if he liked it or not, and he tilted his head like a puppy, then he straightened it and stood up. "This is... the MOST AWESOMMME THING EVEEEERRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" He held it up to show how much he liked it. He started jumping up and down and finally stopped to ask, "What is it?"

I bursted out laughing at his reaction and replied, "it's a sunflower. I can show you more pictures of them if you'd like." He looked back down at his drawing and smiled even more, which I wasn't even sure was possible. He looked back up to me and said, "I'm your... best friend?" Omg I swear this thing is so cute I wanna cry. He's like a little puppy.

"Of course you are Sunny!" I replied. I was immediately embraced in a tight hug. I look up and see Sun looking down at me with his big, genuine smile.

"You're the best, sunshine!" He replied, letting go of the hug after a minute. "Now, what should we do next?"

I tried to think of something to do with him, but I didn't have any ideas. "I don't know, but I'm gonna put some of my stuff away. I'll be right back!" I said as I started to run upstairs to put some stuff in my locker.

"I already miss you, Sunshine!" He shouted back, and as I looked back at him, he made a little heart with his hands. I laughed as I exited the doors and walked up the stairs. As I got to my locker, I decided to keep Sunny's drawing with me as I put my other belongings in there and locked my locker. I looked at his drawing and flipped it over to the back, when I noticed something.
There was a note on the back in a f/c colored pencil that read
'You are my sunshine'
