the following week, you and armin spent everyday with each other. you two looked at venues, catering services, all of that. it was stupid, so early on.
everyone else was ecstatic though, especially sasha. "no fucking way." was what she said before starting to scream, you had to move the phone away from your ear.
"you're joking!" connie said.
"knew it! i knew it would've happened, congratulations." was what jean said.
"mikasa, it happened!!" eren yelled, you heard the faint noise of mikasa in the background. "what?!"
before you knew it, congratulations gifts were arriving at your apartment door. the postal office was even concerned.
eren sent tons of candy, and mikasa went all out. she sent flowers, cards, some gift cards, and some new kitchen appliance she swore was useful.
sasha and connie sent decor that could be used in the apartment. they also thought it would be funny to put fuzzy handcuffs at the bottom of the box.
jean sent frames to put pictures of you and armin in, and more gift cards.
after unpacking all of these, you collapsed onto the couch next to armin. he was watching a movie.
"i'm tired," you groaned, laying your head on his lap.
"it's only 6." he looked down at you.
"yeah well, it's super hot, so that's making me tired."
he shrugged, "take off your shirt or something, i don't know."
"seriously?"
armin laughed, turning on the fan besides him. "watch this movie with me,"
"i was planning on it anyways," you said, but just as you were about to get comfortable you remembered something. "armin, what's today's date?"
"june 21st."
"oh! today's the first day of summer!"
armin knew what you were talking about. "the summer fireworks."
there was a firework show happening that night, for the beginning of summer. you both stood
up from the couch and ran separate directions.
"it's going to start soon! get some drinks, i'll get a blanket!" armin called from the room.
you grabbed multiple soda bottles and bag of chips, opening the patio door and placing them on the small table that was on the balcony.
armin came out with two blankets, even though there really wasn't a need, the night was warm. he shut the sliding door behind him, passing you a blanket and taking a bottle to himself.
"when does it start?" you asked him.
he checked the time on his phone, "well, right about...."
armin was interrupted by fireworks going off in the sky, of all different colors. you looked up at them, the colors reflecting against your face. the cool summer breeze blew, making it not too hot or too cold. stellar was seated on your lap, looking at the fireworks too.
this was it. you made it, next to armin, your soon to be husband, watching the summer firework show. he was watching them with such awe, while sipping on a drink.
it's like he felt you staring at him, because he turned and looked at you. "you're missing the fireworks."
"funny."
armin laughed, grabbing your hand. he held it up towards the sky, the fireworks and stars reflecting off the ring on your finger. he brought it back down after admiring it, "i don't regret asking mikasa about you that one day, y/n." he looked back at you, "who would've thought that, you would end up with a ring on your finger."
"unexpected, yeah. i don't regret coming up to you under that tree."
armin smiled. "let me promise you something y/n." he put his hand on your face, "for as long as we are together, you can depend on me when you need it. or not, if you don't want to. but if you do need something, i'm here. even if we aren't on good terms."
"same goes for you. i'm always here and always will be."
"i got you, for the rest of our time together."
"and i got you, armin."
