Su-hyeok exhaled deeply as he walked away from the construction site. That's when he realized his classmate, Ara, was no longer present.
'Huh? How could she have vanished in such a way?'When he noticed her small figure hunching over the railings, he continued his walk inside the building.
"Oi!" He felt bad when he saw her jump around like a cat.Su-hyeok jogs towards Ara and stares at her intently for a lengthy moment before they finally snap.
"Ara right? From Class 2-5. Are you okay?" He guiltily searches her face, not knowing if Ara is even in his class. Su-hyeok can search her face for any injuries because it is the only visible part he can see. Ara is wearing a large grey hoodie and long black socks that cover her entire thighs. She has always felt insecure about showing any part of her skin to others, even now that she has bruises on it.
No one will notice, because she has a good amount of foundation that Jin-su gave her. Ara recalled what Jin-su said to her while presenting his gift.
'It's not that you're not attractive, but this gift... It will still remind you that it is worthwhile to live a little and try new things.'"I-I'm fine," she says quietly, catching Su-hyeok off guard with her small voice.
The sweat rolling down her brow sent shivers down her spine, and Ara quickly brushed it off, which is when Su-hyeok noticed a small portion of blue bruises on her hairline. Her previously hidden skin was now exposed, and a painful bruise appeared.
Su-hyeok placed his hand gently on Ara's brow, causing her to hiss in pain and swat his hand away. Ara let out a gasp as she realized what he had seen. 'I need to get out of here.'
She climbs to her destination using the railings as a support.
"Wait a minute—""Su-hyeok!" Ara took advantage of the distraction provided by On-jo, one of their classmates, to flee.
Su-hyeok pursed his lips when he realized Ara was no longer there. 'Perhaps I'll ask about it later.'
*Class 2-5
As Ara silently opens the sliding door, indistinct chatters can be heard. Lee Na-Yeon, the one and only, took notice of her devilish appearance. The source of all the rumors circulating on campus. A bird nest hair, a patch of stickiness on her arm that they mistook for sweat, and dust, her gray hood had developed a white dust that resembled chalk dust.
"Tch. You guys, don't ever go near her. I heard she's the reason Jin-su went missing." Then the flames started, a gasp and a dirty look was thrown at Ara, and while it may appear that she can't hear them, the truth is that she did. All of it.
Ara sat down and looked at the group where Na-Yeon is seated. She sighs in relief as she stares at them, looking at their forehead but not in their eyes, seeing as her plan works to make them uncomfortable. At the very least, she can silence them with a look rather than with force. She despises it.
Ara didn't noticed that Su-hyeok is already in his sit, playfully glaring at her. But Ara took that glare in a different way. Su-hyeok, she reasoned, was angry at her for abandoning him while he was still questioning her. She regrets her rudeness now that she thinks about it. But she doesn't want people to ask her what happened. Fortunately, Su-hyeok went to his friends to catch up with them.
"Hey, you punks. Come on, take your seats. Come on, move it." Students stumble to their seats as their English teacher, Ms. Park Sun-hwa, walks in.
"Attention" a male student started as everyone's chair scrape on the floor and students murmuring their greetings.
"Hi there" Greeted Miss Sun-hwa
"Hello."
"Hi, good morning."
