Tina looked up when the door opened, but instead of her husband and son walking through the door, a Healer entered and delivered the news. Tina took off to find them. She rounded a corner at the sight of her son about to be covered with a sheet. Newt sat against the wall, staring in disbelief at Ben.

She approached her son, resting her hand on his mop of hair. The Healers carrying the body away tried to move but Tina shoved them to a stop. She was breaking into more tears than she liked. Newt had stood up and wrapped her in an embrace. Tina broke down into uncontrollable tears. She refused to let go of her son's hand.

"Tina. Let him go." Newt whispered, grief trying its hardest to block his words.

Tina shook her head, unable to form words through her grief. She squeezed Ben's limp hand tighter until she couldn't squeeze it anymore. Ben's hand fell from her grasp and Tina fell to Newt as her means of comfort. She grasped at his back, digging her nails in his shoulder blades, and cried in his shoulders, watching her son be carried away down the hall.

The last time she truly saw her son.
